ABW Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 To those that use S-Wavers, what rod do you use with the.. 120 size? (13/16 oz) 168 size? (1 & 5/8 oz) 200 size? (3 & 1/2 oz) I watched Matt Allen's video on S-Wavers, but what other rods could I use instead of a Dobyns? I've seen guys recommend the Okuma Guide Select, but which model would be optimal for the 168's? Also, you guys think I could get away with throwing the 120 on a 4 power jig rod that's rated 1/4-1 oz? Quote

I immediately thought of Matt Allen's video when I saw this topic, but I would guess the okuma guide select 7'6" medium heavy would work well for those. Most heavy flipping sticks work for the 120 and 168. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted December 13, 2014 Super User Posted December 13, 2014 Really it'd be 2 different rods for the 168 and 200 but the guide select 7'11 heavy would be a decent choice. It's rated 1-6oz so it'll handle the 200 great and won't do bad on the 168. I throw both on mine. That lure tends to helicopter for some reason. Still a nice bait though. 1 Quote
Fisher-O-men Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 I throw my 168 on my Ardent Denny Brauer swimbait rod, 7'6" heavy. No problem. Pretty sure I could throw it on a jig stick. Quote
Super User WRB Posted December 13, 2014 Super User Posted December 13, 2014 You can use a frog rod or a heavy crankbait rod with S-Wavers, MH swimbait rods would be better fit the 200. You don't cast wavers long distances, they are a glide lure and you will miss too strikes casting over 30 yards. Tom 3 Quote
