adam32 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 One of my best winter smallmouth baits is a 3" black senko fished on a small jig head. I went to order some more of them and the Yamamoto site only shows 3"slim senkos and 3" fat senkos. All the ones I've used in the past just say 3" Yamasenko on the bag. Does anyone know if the slim senko is the same thing? I'm thinking maybe they changed the name to slim senko when they came out with the fat version. I emailed Yamamoto, but haven't heard back. Thanks for any info! Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted December 12, 2014 Super User Posted December 12, 2014 well here are some, black slim version for $3 a pack if interested cant help on the size differences http://www.overstockbait.com/gary-yamamoto-slim-senko-3-10-count/ Quote
MO_LMB Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 If you like fishing the 3" senko on a jighead, I would strongly recommend the zman zinkerz. Just buy a pack of the regular sized ones and cut them in half. You can superglue them to your jighead and the one bait will last you for DAYS. Super durable and will save you tons of money if you are buying senkos. They are super supple too and have great action. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted December 12, 2014 Super User Posted December 12, 2014 You didn't hear it from me, but a Havoc Money Maker cut down on one end to the top of the "egg sack" and threaded on a 1/16th oz. VMC half moon finesse head replaced the 3" senko on a jig head for me. Give it try, the money makers are $2.99 for a bag of 15,and the VMC heads are like $3 for 5.The whole system costs less than a bag of senkos. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted December 12, 2014 Super User Posted December 12, 2014 So we're basically talking the Ned Rig here. Videos I've watched explain why Z-Man's baits work best, simply because they last, and seem to have great movement. I tried a portion of a 5" BPS Stik-O and was not impressed with how it moved on the jig in relation to how the ZinkerZ and TRDs move... 1 Quote

I still have the same ned rig (1/2 zinker on a jighead) on one of my spinning rods that I tied on I think in September. That elaztech is awesome. The more they get chewed up the better action they seem to have as well. The only down side of the elaztech is that you have to be careful putting them in a tackle bag when it is really hot outside or they can melt. They can also melt if you mix them in a bag with other plastics. Other than that, they are incredible in how long they last. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted December 12, 2014 Super User Posted December 12, 2014 So we're basically talking the Ned Rig here. Isn't the Ned rig a cut worm on a half moon jig though? Quote
Super User tomustang Posted December 12, 2014 Super User Posted December 12, 2014 I checked the sku on my 3" senkos, I get mine at DSG and cabelas, on the bag the sku is 9B, 9B is slim on the website where 9C is fat. I have never seen fat 3" senkos in stores Quote
Super User Raul Posted December 13, 2014 Super User Posted December 13, 2014 Never used them, but actually it's not Senkos but Dingers, those things don't work at all. Quote

Super User smalljaw67 Posted December 13, 2014 Super User Posted December 13, 2014 I use some from a small manufacturer called River Rock Baits, they make one called a P.C. Ringer, it is a small 3" stick worm that is just a killer during the summer and then again in cold water, I never leave home with out a bag or two in my box. Black neon and black with a gold tip just light the fish up, awesome little bait. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 14, 2014 Global Moderator Posted December 14, 2014 The Zman TRD would be really close to a 3" Senko, only much, much more durable and cheaper. Quote
