Super User Sam Posted December 12, 2014 Super User Posted December 12, 2014 I am perusing through a bass magazine on Wednesday and there is a two-page, bright yellow background ad for Major Craft's NANOACE rods, which they have branded "Ace of Rods." The cost is only $100 which is a great price for a rod. I read the ad's baloney and lo and behold, Major Craft says "Major Craft, the leading rod manufacturer in Japan, has finally come ashore in the United States to proudly launch a high performance and great value bass rod series, NANOACE." Never heard of Major Craft. Have no idea if their rods parallel the quality of Japan's baits. No idea who carries them. But for $100 I may take a chance. major Craft America is also looking for sales people. If you are interested here is their email address: info@majorcraftamerica.com Their web site is www.majorcraftamerica.com They are physically located in Gardena, California. I am going to check out their web site to find out more about their products. Suggest you all consider checking them out, too. If anyone out there has one or two of this brand please let us know what you think of them. Quote
bootytrain Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I love major craft but I hope these blanks are better than their other 100 dollar price point sticks. I had a MH Go Emotion snap on a cast with a half oz lure. On the other hand the Volkey has been a joy to use. 1 Quote
Super User Raul Posted December 13, 2014 Super User Posted December 13, 2014 Not all japanese cool stuff is Megabass. Major Craft, GraphiteLeader, Tailwalk are some of those not American known rod companies that actually have very good products. Major Craft is big in Europe. Quote
Hogsticker Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Major Craft is a Japan based company, however all their rods are built in Vietnam. Being made in China doesn't bug me as it does some, as the build quality is 2nd to none. Looking at the 1st MC America rod, I must say I'm disappointed. They really Amercanized this stick. It doesn't appear to have that Japanese styling flavor. They even labeled them technique specific. This is pretty much a Basspara. Both the Basspara and Go Emotion (I had one break at the tip too) are "okay". I understand starting with an entry level stick, but I really hope Major Craft of America isn't going to simply be a watered down version. I wouldn't expect to have your socks knocked off with this new rod. With so many quality sticks at the 100 dollar price point, I'm not sure how well these will sell. Especially considering other manufactures use better quality guides (at least a grade above aluminum oxide), and likely better blanks. Like Booty said, you get what ya pay for. Both the Corzza and Volkey are super nice. I would have rather seen those two lines brought over than this new bumble bee. When this talk first came about, supposedly they were bringing the MS-X, Corzza, and Go Emotion. Maybe that's in the works? I'm sure the person running the show for MC in the states wants to tailor the rods to fit what he/she perceives the American audience wants. I guess I don't fit into that slate. I'm still very curious to see where this goes. At any rate I own a broken, about to be re-tipped BFS Go Emotion - It's okay, nothing spectacular, a BFS Volkey - fantastic, and a Corzza - pretty close to fantastic. Also had a Corkish that I sold. Me likey 1 Quote
thehooligan Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 I've been wanting to get my hands on the ms-x or volkey... Would of been nice if they brought them over cause I'm looking for the one piece. 2 Quote

DFrench97 Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Hope they bring the other models over here (Corzza looks sweet). Look much better than the Nanoace. Quote

I had the 2 piece corkish and liked it, just want something a step up and one piece that's not gonna kill me on shipping... Quote
Hogsticker Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Matt, you can get a 1 piece off the auction site at a somewhat decent shipping cost. To bad they mark the rods up an additional 50 bucks above msrp. But it might trick your mind into believing your not getting ripped off! My Major craft affliction is all your fault. The better 2 piece sticks are nice enough to tag along even when I'm not traveling. Quote
masterbass Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Ditto, hope they bring some volkeys here. Quote
Tim S. Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 I have the 2 pc. Volkey 6'8" Light BFS stick and it is a sweet little rod that does much more than BFS well. I am still considering the MH Nanoace jerkbait rod, though. Sensitivity isn't an issue with a reaction bait rod and they fish lighter than their ratings. 1 Quote
kschultz76 Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Majorcract debuted/announced that the JDM Corzza is coming stateside at iCast. Six spinning, eleven casting (including bfs models), and all one piece models. $149-189. 1 Quote
stkbassn Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 I'm interested in these rods also. I thought about ordering a 2 piece Basspara spinning rod. With shipping under 100 bucks from Japan. The seller seems to be a big seller on Ebay and has 100% feedback. I currently have two things coming that haven't arrived yet so my decision to buy the rod will also be based on these two items reaching me Based on what I've read here about the Basspara I think I might reconsider. Just wanted something portable and different considering I don't fish that much spinning gear, right now, none. Anyone here own one of the Basspara's? Not looking to break the bank on spinning gear. earthworm77 Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 I have a few Major Craft rods........mostly for ul spinning but I do own a couple of Basspara's including a 692 M casting rod that I got for when I head up to my property in NC to fish my pond. For a rod that I got for about 70.00, it has surpassed any expectation I had. It has been great and despite my aversion to 2pc rods, I don't even realize it is a 2pc when fishing it. I'm actually considering getting a few more and using them for my daily fishing here in Fl. I also own a Trapara, I am really big into the light tackle thing and the 2 UL and SUL rods I have are cherry. Again for about 80.00 ea. they are pretty much better than anything anywhere in that price range. I've taken fish close to 5lbs on the UL and 3lbs on the SUL and they have handled them well. I haven't heard of many issues regarding these rods and the guy I get them from on Bay....Shinok211 combines shipping costs for multiple rods.....so if you buy 2 or 3, you pay only the shipping on 1. A lot of Japanese sellers don't do that. I've heard the Nanoace isn't as good as the stuff made for the JDM market, it seems to be watered down for the US. Quote

poisonokie Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 I've been wanting to get my hands on the ms-x or volkey... Would of been nice if they brought them over cause I'm looking for the one piece. They're worth going after. I've got one of each, a Light/reg fast bfs volkey and a ml/reg fast ms-x. Both are extremely sensitive and perfect for anything finesse oriented. The ms-x is just stupid light and has an outstanding blank lined with titanium framed sic ring k guides and my personal favorite Fuji ACS reel seat. I wish they were easier to come by. I'd love to get my hands on one of the heavier powered rods. Quote
thehooligan Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Like alot of others, I'm just not a fan of the ACS reelseats. Never looked hard enough to see that the ms-x had one. I'll probably roll Jackall for my one piece rods, wouldn't mind a two piece corzza for little trips here & there... Quote
poisonokie Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 they just fit my hand perfectly during casting and retrieval. I guess I just got lucky that MC uses them. I like the tatula seat a lot, too, if a larger reel is mounted on it. Quote
poisonokie Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 I definitely like them better than the ECS seats Quote

Plus it took a heavy reel to get any type of decent balance point. It was a heavy rod by itself. The rod was built very nice but overbuilt in a sense too. I wasn't that impressed by it in terms of sensitivity. On par with most $100-150 usdm offerings. I tried to like it, but I just couldn't. 1 Quote

The bfs model balances well and does feel a bit heavier than you'd expect, but it fishes great. The ms-x I have is surprising light, though, feather light, and balances even better. Just out of curiosity, for those of you who don't like ACS seats, what do you prefer? Quote

poisonokie Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 The volkey I got from shimreels through eBay and the ms-x I got from a private seller on eBay. There are a few good deals on Amazon, too. Quote
Hogsticker Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 The new Speedstyle has the new Pts reel seat. The Acs seat sucks for moving baits, but I don't mind it, kinda prefer it for finesse techniques. It's terrible with large framed reels. The majority of those Japan boys are fishing small, slow offerings, and if I had to guess that is the reason Major Uses the Acs seat. Quote
