bassboy107 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 As the title says, what line do you use for jerkbaits? Ps. This combo will be used only for jerkbaits Quote
JGBassinAL Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I use 10 lb. Sunline Reaction FC. Never had a problem with it. 1 Quote

Super User HoosierHawgs Posted December 12, 2014 Super User Posted December 12, 2014 Lotta guys like fluoro for jerkbaits, but I like mono because of handling and stretch w/trebles. I see why in clear water some might want the non visibility factor of fluoro, but mono is not high vis by any means, and there is not need in my situation to get extra depth so I use mono. Generally I use Stren Original or Seagur Senshi is quality line also. As for #Test I use 12, but I've seen guys on FLW use as light as 8 for visibility reasons. Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted December 12, 2014 Super User Posted December 12, 2014 I use 11lb Defier Armilo. Your favorite mono in .025-.028 diameter should work well. I would stay away from fluoro because it will drag the front down, since it sinks. Stay away from braid because it won't give when you get a bite and you'll miss a bunch because you rip it away before they have it. 1 Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted December 12, 2014 Super User Posted December 12, 2014 #8 in Tripple Fish mono.. Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted December 12, 2014 Super User Posted December 12, 2014 Mostly 8# fluorocarbon, usually InvisX, unless I'm around heavier cover (usually not). Did play around this weekend with braid using a fluoro leader while jerkbaiting - worked better than I expected, but need to test a lot more before I would consider switching from fluoro. -T9 Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted December 12, 2014 Super User Posted December 12, 2014 As light of a Mono as I think I can get away with. Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted December 12, 2014 Super User Posted December 12, 2014 Light weight braid with a mono leader. Quote

I have used anything from 6# to 12# depending on the weight of the jerkbait and what other factors I may take into consideration. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted December 12, 2014 Super User Posted December 12, 2014 8lb fluro for smaller 12lb fluro for bigger Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Well, other pros may disagree. The pros that I met at Bass University all recommended monofilament line. Pete Gluszek Mike Iaconelli Gerald Swindle Mike McClelland (McStick) That's why I had "arguably" as opposed to "unarguably." I am a fan of Fluoro, because of the sensitivity it gives you on slack line. When you are pausing the Jerkbait for 30+ seconds in cold water, feeling that light tick from Smallmouth gently mouthing the lure is the difference between catching a fish am not even knowing he was there.
