bluenitrouscoupe Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I was wanting to know you y'all use braid or fluorocarbon when fishing a lipless crankbait. Never really used this technique but plan on trying it this weekend with a red eye shad. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted December 11, 2014 Super User Posted December 11, 2014 I use a M/F rod and 30lb braid. To me it helps rip the bait through grass and helps with hooksets Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 11, 2014 Super User Posted December 11, 2014 Of those two, fluoro. But I generally throw them on 10-12# CXX. For rocks, I like a moderate action rod. For weeds, fast works better for me. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted December 11, 2014 Super User Posted December 11, 2014 Braid with a fluoro leader.Braid for the feel when fishing it in and around grass,I believe I get a cleaner "rip" or "pop" out of the grass with the no stretch braid. The fluoro leader is to combat zebra mussels and pike teeth. It works good for the zebes, and I "only" loose a dozen lipless cranks a year with the fluoro leader to the pike, as opposed to 50 with straight braid. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 11, 2014 Super User Posted December 11, 2014 They should make braid scissors out of pike teeth and zebes! 2 Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted December 12, 2014 Super User Posted December 12, 2014 I'm not a braid fan for moving baits but I can definitely see where it would be useful for ripping traps out of grass. Quote
