Green pumpkin like everythign else ? Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I stick to translucent and white colors. I like a little blue flake in there too. Ask people that fish where you fish. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 10, 2014 Global Moderator Posted December 10, 2014 Disco violet, Arkansas shiner, and albino are my favorites. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 10, 2014 Super User Posted December 10, 2014 This has been killer for me: Sworming Hornet/ LFT Live Magic Shad. A few years ago at Pickwick on a BassResource RoadTrip I caught 78 bass one day on this rig. The key is the retrieve: Cast and let the lure settle to the bottom. Maintain your rod at 10:00 while quickly reeling, perhaps five turns. Allow the lure to fall on slack line and repeat until you feel you are out of the zone. The underblade lifts the body, DO NOT PUMP your rod. Reeling lifts the bait, pumping moves it forward. Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted December 10, 2014 Super User Posted December 10, 2014 100% of the bites occur on the fall and you won't feel anything. If it doesn't hit the bottom when you think it should, set the hook! Otherwise, you will feel "something" when you begin reeling... SET THE HOOK! Quote

A good quality Med fast rod should give you the sensitivity and hooksets you need. 1 Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 ^^^^What he said. As far as feeling bites, crankbait rods are not your best bet. A medium power fast action rod will do just fine. Quote
bushnaq Posted December 11, 2014 Author Posted December 11, 2014 now that i think about it a fast action would make sense with the bait only having one hook . thank you for the replies everyone. Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted December 11, 2014 Super User Posted December 11, 2014 No, you reel quickly about 5 turns without moving your rod, then let it fall again on slack line. Repeat this sequence until you feel you are out of the zone. Quote
