You know how on the skirts you buy on premade jigs they don't smell so bad like silicone or whatever it is and they don't seem to stick together as bad.  They seem a lot drier. How can I accomplish this with the skirts I buy from fishingskirts.com or whoever else.  Do I just leave them out on a desk for a while or what?

Leaving them out should help, that's what I do with all my skirted baits. I also have found that the older jigs that have sat in my box are more flexible than those that are brand new. Usually I make mine over the winter, and by spring they have softened up.

The smell doesn't bother the fish in my experience, just us. I use a comb with separate out the ones that are stuck together. It seems like some colors are worse than others in stickiness.

I haven't seemed to notice a difference as far as if the fish mind it.  The only reason I would ask is if I plan on selling some.  Someone else might mind. The stickiness factor does kind of bother me though.  I'll experiment with it.

Pretty sure I've watched you hammer fish on jigs you tied on the tailgate at the lake!

Dip them in JJ's, it gets rid of that silicone smell.

I guess you could use the clear maybe?  Either way I took one out and fished with it for an hour or two a couple of days ago.  It's still on my rod out in the garage and it no longer has that silicone smell.  I'm gonna try and find a faster method though.

I keep seeing the last couple of words in the title of your post, "Smell" and "Stickiness", makes me think about a different time in my life.

No matter if you are buying premade skirts or plain skirt tabs, if they smell and are sticky you simple need to separate them and leave them air out for 2 days and they should be fine.

I buy a lot of skirts from them, and just let them "air out" and it goes away. I put megastrike on everything anyways so it has never been an issue.

The smell and stickiness is from the manufacturing process. Normally they let the tabs air dry enough but sometimes they do not. Charles from Fishingskirts.com told me a couple years ago just to let them air out for awhile and it will go away.

Had a lot of times where the epoxy for the weedguards was drying on the way to the lake the jigs were so fresh, they still catch plenty of fish.

I dip a lot of my jigs in clear JJ's, just dunk the whole thing.
