FunkJishing Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 why do some rods say "casting" on them when we cast with all rods? do they specialize in distance casting or something? Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted December 8, 2014 Super User Posted December 8, 2014 Because some rods are made for SPINNING REELS while others are made for CASTING REELS. or SPINCAST REELS. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 "Casting" as in bait-cast as opposed to spinning tackle. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted December 8, 2014 Super User Posted December 8, 2014 Casting = it's to be used with a casting reel or baitcaster as we call it. Nothing special about it. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted December 8, 2014 Super User Posted December 8, 2014 Looks like we were all typing at the same time haha Quote

I know this lol let me ask it better, so on baitcasting rods the label "casting" is just to represent that it's for baitcasting? i thought maybe it represented that rods primary use like how crankbait casting rods say "cranking" on them. FunkJishing Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 lol I'm probably overthinking things... Quote
Solution Delaware Valley Tackle Posted December 8, 2014 Solution Posted December 8, 2014 I wasn't sure if maybe the OP was part sarcasm. lol A "casting" rod is just a non-technique specific bait-casting (usually trigger) rod. 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 8, 2014 Super User Posted December 8, 2014 I had a hot shot rod for trout fishing. I thought I was pretty cool. Quote

desmobob Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I sometimes troll with my spinning rod, cast with my jigging rod, and jig with my casting rod. I also park in my driveway and drive on the parkway, so what do I know.... Tight lines, Bob 1 Quote
