Hi Salenity and I fished one of the power plant lakes last Friday. Rained on us most of the day but other than that it wasn't bad until the wind started to blow the last hour we were there. Caught fish on a little bit of everything but I really put the Pinnacle Optimus/Perfecta combo through a workout :) Dragging a homemade swinging football head through the rocks with either a Netbait B Bug or Zman Palmetto Bug caught a lot of our fish. I started with a S Waver and moved a ton of fish right off the bat, but had a lot of swings and misses, couple on a fluke too.

I got tired of missing fish so I picked up the Optimus/Perfecta with a 1/4oz swinging football head and started wearing them out.

Once he tied on one of my swinging football heads, Curt was quickly to a big fish, but it turned out to be the wrong kind.

but he righted the ship quickly and really started to put the hurt on them towards the end.

Great day on the water and I'm really, really liking this Pinnacle combo :)

Sounds like you killed them.

Dang I wish I had a lake with green and brown bass in it. Looks likes it was worth dealing with the rain and cold for sure.

Gotta love an s-waver bite! Is that the infamous carp bait?

That is the grass carp killer :) If you look closely, you can see the gum marks from the carp

Close, no spotted bass in that lake, just largemouth and smallmouth.

I promise you it's not as clean as it looks in those pics.

Fantastic Bass catches. One question on rigging the swing head with the Palmetto or B Bug..... Do you have the flappers or claws rigged upside down like a GYCB Fat Ika, so the bait glides away from you on the fall?

No, just rigged like you normally would. I think maybe you're seeing a couple pictures where the head pulled all the way through the top of the bait and it does kind of look like they were rigged up backwards.

Ok.

How would you compare the Netbait B Bug vs. the Z-Man Palmetto as far as fishability and catch rate?

I currently use the Netbait B Bug and it's a good beaver style lure. I also fish with Z-man soft plastics, but just haven't gotten around to trying their Palmetto Bug.

Thanks in advance,  Hookset

The Palmetto Bug has more movement in the appendages than the B Bug does. The Palmetto Bug is much more durable than the B Bug but the B Bug does pretty well too. I like that the Palmetto Bug's appendages float up, especially since I'm fishing it slowly and dragging it along in the cold water this time of year. Both are really good baits but I'd certainly suggest trying the Palmetto Bug if you haven't yet.

Hi Salenity and I were back at it last Friday. It was way tougher than it was last time we were on the same body of water a couple weeks ago but the upside was when we caught a fish it was generally a pretty solid fish.
