Lewi Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Alright gents.....I have a Ruger SR9c and absolutely love it as an EDC. I have the idea that I want to get another pistol and am looking at the S&W M&P 45c since i just feel the need to have a 45 but love the 9mm round. I guess im just looking for conversation on 45's in gnenral and not what .45 I should get as I have held/shot many 45's and have decided on the M&P .45c as another carry option. -Lewi Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted December 8, 2014 Super User Posted December 8, 2014 I have the 45c and absolutely love it. Mine has the thumb safety and if you plan to carry IWB, I'd advise against that model. I typically only carry it when I can wear a sweatshirt or something similar to add a bulky top layer of concealment. It's a great shooting pistol, as are all the M&Ps I've handled. Quote
endless Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I'm in the other boat lol. I own a .40 and thinking about going to a 9mm on my next gun. My cousin has an M&P .40 shield I think? With the thumb safety on his. I liked it I just prefer my Springfield but thinking about going to a Sig Suaer 320c or 250c if not the Springfield XD mod2.im caught between these three Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted December 8, 2014 Super User Posted December 8, 2014 I own the Springfield XDS .45. I have large hands and it is more comfortable for me to shoot with the extended mag. I owned the XDM .40, but did not like it as much as the .45, the .40 with it's high pressure round was not fun to shoot with the very short barrel. The .45 is a much flatter recoil and I prefer it. Great little gun that shoots very well. Slim frame so it conceals very well. I've drawn the gun from my homemade IWB hybrid holster hundreds of times and not once have a I flicked the safety on either during drawing or holstering. They can be had for around $400 or less from Academy. Quote
I.rar Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 X2 on the stiff shield safety. I've never accidentally turned mine on. They can be had around $360 online. Quote
papajoe222 Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 As a carry, a .45 is a great choice. As a back-up, not so good. You might want to go with an Apex trigger. Not for the lighter trigger pull, but for the shorter and more pronounced reset. I Personally prefer a saftey on my carry. A little practice and the extra step becomes more of a continuation of the drawing process than another step. Quote
