There's something about December when it comes to catching my PB.  23" long 20" girth and just about 10 1/2 pounds estimated on the Bass Resource fish weight calculator.  Caught on a Pepper Custom Baits Fred Roumbanis Boom Boom Swim Jig in white with a white blade.  She wasn't caught where I took the picture.  I caught her across the lake over by the bridge on the left side of the picure in a thick patch of water willow.  It was the only spot adjacent to some deeper water that you could reach from the bank.  I wouldn't have learned about how bass relate to shallow cover adjacent to deeper water in winter if it weren't for this site.  Thanks everyone.

The fish seems a bit smaller, but take into account I am 6'3 235 lbs with large hands.

Thank you.  I didn't have a scale. I took measurements and used the fish weight calculator on this site.  The calculator estimated 10.37 lbs. How accurate is that thing?

At 23" inches long that thing was a football to hit the 10lb mark. Either way congrats. Nice fish!!

Granted it was fatter than even your average fat fish, when I caught it I thought it to be about a 9.  What do you think it weighs?

Great fish way to catch 'em!

Auggie based on that pic its hard to really say. At least for me. You are big guy so that can change how the fish looks compared if i held it. I am 6ft tall 195lbs. If you asked me if the fish looks like a 10.5lb fish i will say no. But its a big nice fish nonetheless. Speedbead has the best signature, it reads the scale never lies. Invest in a scale so when you come across a beautiful catch like the one you caught you have a precise measurement vs that of a formula. Many swear by them. But seeing your catch on the scale will confirm it. Congrats again on a great catch. WTG!!

It really doesn't seem as if was 10 1/2 pounds, but I don't see the calculator being too far off.  My last personal best was weighed at a smidge over 8 on a hanging scale with a 19'' girth and 21'' long.  The calculator estimated 8.2.  So who knows.  I'm gonna go with under 10 but I do think it's over 9

Hard to say exactly by the picture but I would guess 8-9. The one in my avatar is 11 for comparison and I'm 6'1''. Congrats on your PB  it's always a good time beating your previous best.

Yeah I don't think mine's quite that big.  I do think it pushes a smidge over nine though solely due to the fact it's a bit bigger than my last pb of 8 lbs. Should have had it weighed, but I took a pic and put it back.  Oh well, hope it grows bigger so someone else can catch it.

The fish in my avatar was 22" long and 17" around and weighed 7.76lbs, the fish calculator puts it at 8.06, only a quarter pound off.

That's a great looking fish Auggie :)

Comparison when the fish is 6" from the camera :P ??? I hold fish way out too though, not knocking you for it, holding them out makes for a better photo IMO, not to make them look bigger than they are, it just does a better job displaying their features.
