Not sure if anyone has seen, but Bass Pro has their Extreme Rods for $59.99.  I guess they are getting a new model in, I dont know, but my Bass Pro only had 15-20 rods in stock.  I really like the Extreme Rods, and for $60, I find it really hard to beat. I picked up a 6'6" Medium baitcasting rod that Im gonna use for some topwaters, spinnerbaits and small T-Rigs. Anyway, I thought I would share in case anyone was looking for a new rod.

My other Deal of the day was Spro Bronzeye poppers in Rainforest Black for $1.98 at academy.

I bought a number of Extremes of the previous model when they were on close-out about 5 years ago - for prices ranging from $39 to $59. Good, serviceable rods at those prices. I've got quite a bit of use out of mine.

I don't have any interest in the current regular-model Extremes that are being closed-out...but several days ago I did buy two of the Extreme three-piece travel rods (one casting, one spinning) that are selling for the same $59 - an excellent value for a travel rod that includes a rod sock AND a hard case...

BTW, the new model Extremes are already showing on the BPS web site.

I saw that deal in a mail flyer I got. Great price on am already good rod for the money. There certainly isn't another rod out there that even compares for $59.

I think the Extremes are a steal at their normal retail price.

They are releasing the new Extremes in the new year. A buddy at the Foxborough store said they are in stores but not on the racks yet.

Great rod. Got my hopes up, went online to order a 7'6" MH non telescoping rod and all they had was 6' MH and 7'6" H.

Just saw a couple of them (the new ones) today. A really good looking rod. Emerald green color.

I have a couple of the older 7'4" BPS extreme rods.  They are a medium action with a fast tip.  I think that it sucks as a pitching rod but it is great as a square bill rod.

Nylon covered & embroidered hard case, compartmented nylon rod sock, expected workmanlike performance that you get with the Extreme rod series.

$60 each, free shipping.

Pretty good deal...

Very nice goose. I'm on the fence between these and the new Ardito-TR from Daiwa even though they are twice the price.

Are they tip heavy?

Extremes generally aren't the lightest stick around, but I've never noticed any objectionable amount of tip heaviness...but I usually don't fish them much for bottom contact anyway so balance isn't much of an issue for me.  All my on-the-water experience is with the Extreme models that are now two generations old so I can't really say how the just discontinued series fish, and of course haven't seen the new ones at all.

Looking at the BPS web site earlier today - it looks like all the $59 close-out Extremes are gone (on-line at least). Glad I got these travel rods when I did.

I think online is the only way to get them unless you live in Springfield. At our local BPS yesterday they had none of the previous carbonlites or extremes. The guy at the counter said all the previous model stock was shipped back to springfield.
