I'm standing on the bank of a canel that's 4' deep & about 25-30' wide, behind me & to the right is marsh that is 12-20" deep. What appears to be open water actually has Hydrilla & Coontail Moss just under the surface.

In this type of cover I like a top water, a weightless t-rig, & something with a pegged weight or grass jig. I rotate through all three!

Great advice above. I didn't see anyone mention flukes, however. If frogs and punching aren't working or aren't feasible, I throw weightless super flukes into the middle of that stuff. Reel/twitch until it falls off a pad and then hold on.

I did this at a pond that was choked with algea and weeds along the edges, but I was using a jig with Rage Chunk. Pitched it and wouldn't penetrate, but I just drug it to an opening let it drop and WHAM!
