Any type of small rooster tail type spinner will work. I even got the local stockers just stringing together some dollar store beads and a size 1 French blade with a bit of maribou tied to the hook.

Panther Martin, black with gold blade and chartreuse spots

all day everyday.... either 1/8 or 1/4oz and it will tear them up.  if you get tired of catching them like that, switch to a yellow, with red spots and a gold blade, not as many trout bites as the black, but catches a few more smallmouth along the way....

Up here, back and gold, black and yellow, black and chartreuse drives brown trout CRAZZZZY in fall.  I really think they're eating all the kamikaze drone bees that were kicked out of the nest for winter.
