Super User *Hootie Posted January 30, 2015 Super User Posted January 30, 2015 Hootie, your new avatar pic looks like you caught a bass in chocolate milk. That's what I've been saying about the lake I fish. It's visability is never more than 10 inches. Many times 3" or 4". The bass fishing is really great. Go figure. Hootie Quote
Super User RoLo Posted January 31, 2015 Super User Posted January 31, 2015 It seems that gas in Lake Wales, Florida is still in a downtrend. I topped her off today, and the price matched the thread's name: $1.99 Roger Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 3, 2015 Author Super User Posted February 3, 2015 WOW! If you need a lesson on why NOT to be involved in commodity futures, you don't need to look far. A week ago WTI was trading at $43 and change, the trend was decidedly down and the pricing looked like it might break through $40 a barrel. Well, that's yesterday's news! Today WTI is currently at $53.37, but traded earlier at $49.69. Volatile, you think? Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted February 3, 2015 Super User Posted February 3, 2015 Prices here (Kansas) jumped from 1.79 to 1.99 over the last 48 hours. Quote

Today WTI is currently at $53.37, but traded earlier at $49.69. Volatile, you think? Futures are definately not for the amateur day trader. Just about the time oil spiked the market went into rally mode. As RW said that's yesterday's news, it only takes a few things to turn a market positive or negative, and it can happen fast. The last few days oil strengthened, copper may have it a bottom (very vital commodity for the economy), the dollar weakened a bit and some favorable news from Greece. Can it turn back around and head to $40 again, with all the volatility going on you bet it can. I don't care what the price is as long as there is stability. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 4, 2015 Author Super User Posted February 4, 2015 WTI now back to $47.95 What a roller coaster ride this is! Quote
Super User RoLo Posted February 5, 2015 Super User Posted February 5, 2015 WTI now back to $47.95 What a roller coaster ride this is! Butterfly calendar spread? Of course, there are many other 'options' Roger Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted February 5, 2015 Super User Posted February 5, 2015 Diesel hasn't moved much here in CA. It is more expensive than 91 octane though. Filled up the 2500HD, 2.75 a gallon for diesel. Filled up the BMW for the wife, 2.49 for 91 octane. Quote
moguy1973 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Just went back above $2 for regular at all station around here yesterday. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 5, 2015 Super User Posted February 5, 2015 Not only did oil turn around so did the market. About 3:30 or so the Dow was enjoying a 100 point gain due to Disney's performance. All of sudden news came over the wire that the European bank reported having no confidence in Greece, the market did a complete about face within minutes. Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted February 5, 2015 Super User Posted February 5, 2015 Yesterday in Cincinnati, went from $2.05 to $2.35. Hootie Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 5, 2015 Author Super User Posted February 5, 2015 WTI $47.36 was the low price today which popped to $52.10 this morning and currently trading at $50.45. Local prices here are +/- $1.78 for unleaded regular. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted February 6, 2015 Super User Posted February 6, 2015 Price is going up here due to the changeover to the summer blend fuel Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted February 6, 2015 Super User Posted February 6, 2015 2.29 & rising.. No surprise though. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 6, 2015 Super User Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) No question in my mind that the price will keep jumping around for awhile. I'm getting the feeling that the bottom is trying to be established. FYI, the abbreviation for barrel is BBL, why..................Rockefeller first started shipping oil in blue barrels, BBL became the standard. Futures at 9:00 am 52.25, longer range Dec contract @60. Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 27, 2015 Super User Posted February 27, 2015 We seem to be in a stable trading range, pump prices here in South Florida have been on the rise. For the time being the furor on Wall Street regarding energy has waned a bit and so has the volatility. The attention is more on Greece, the strong dollar and when the Fed raises rates. Both the Dow and S & P are in record territory and Nasdaq is tickling 5000. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted February 27, 2015 Super User Posted February 27, 2015 In Lake Wales, FL, gas at the pump hit a low of $1.96, and is currently trading at $2.29 The uptrend however, doesn't appear as robust as the downtrend (likely the major trend). Roger Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted February 27, 2015 Super User Posted February 27, 2015 Price zipped up $0.12 cents yesterday to $2.49 per - But I'm not complaining. A-Jay Quote
