The micro crank bite has started for me...Only little guys but I'll run into some decent fish eventually, as long as the water stays open they'll eat these baits. Anyone else do this? The main reason I fish little cranks is that the fish are holding in 2-3' of water with lots of grass and bigger baits designed for water that shallow aren't subtle at all, and tend to get big wads of grass and algae on the hooks that won't come off when you rip it. I fish them on 6lb fluoro and a light action spinning rod.

Caught a few fish earlier in the year with my Yo-Zuri snap beans.    They are the coolest little crankbaits ever.

Big fan of the Yo-Zuri Killifish on an ultralight. I've caught a ton of fish on those little things, including a 21lb flathead on 4lb test.

I have an old Rebel Fastrac that is one of the best cold water cranks I've ever owned. Problem is it's light so I have to fish it on spinning gear and I'm afraid to lose it since they don't make them anymore :(. Shad Raps with some suspend dots/strips are great in cold water too.

Looks like you've found a pattern. I might have to try that.

If you fish ponds it's definitely worth a shot. If there is ANY wood cover, deflect the bait off of it, usually results in a bite. I put out my own "deflection cover" because I get so many more bites if there is something to bounce the bait off of. A tiny little twig is all it takes.

I have not tried the Killfish, I will have to try and locate a few to try. I also have to fish the Snap Beans on spinning gear the smallest weights 1/32oz.

Here is my favorite mini-crankbait. It's a River 2 Sea 5/16oz Snub Crank.

slow floater that dives to 2-3 ft.

It hunts great during the retrieve.

I'll second that little guy. I have a fishing buddy who wears 'em out on it when the water is cold.
