Weld's Largemouth Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Hey all, As I have added to my stock of soft plastics, i've run into the issue of carrying them all with me. I never know what i am going to need at a given moment so i have to carry them all. I carry a backpack on my back and that works fine- im sure it will fit them all- the issue is... finding the plastic in the maze of other plastics. Sometimes i spend up to 5 minutes searching for a specific plastic that i need. Annoys me so much! Wastes time, while i should be casting! Any solutions that you use? Quote

Weld's Largemouth Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 A worm wallet or two. Going to need more than two of those.... Any solutions that don't require making another order online.. I just made some the other day. Seems like a great solution though, i might get some soon if i must. Also, why not just use a regular binder? Seems like it would do the job Quote
dgretz Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I have a couple wallets but prefer to use gallon-sized ziplocs inside my small backpacks. Each ziploc can hold 6-10 pkgs; sort them however you want. I label the bags with a permanent marker for quicker ID. Not perfect, but it helps. 3 Quote
Super User Solution gulfcaptain Posted December 1, 2014 Super User Solution Posted December 1, 2014 you could get a regular binder and some freezer gallon bags. Or seperate you worms by technique and put them in gallon bags that way. Then when you need a dropshot worm, grab the dropshot bag and find your worm or what ever you're looking for. 1 Quote

Super User Jig Man Posted December 1, 2014 Super User Posted December 1, 2014 First of all you are carrying too much crap. When I bank fish I carry my spares in a shirt pocket. You know what works best so only carry that and leave the rest in the vehicle or at home. Quote

You dont know what works best until you are there fishing and evaluate what the fish are doing, conditions, water clarity etc Quote

lordpaxin Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 I ride my side by side mostly to fish and I have a playmate party stacker cooler It's about 2 feet wide. 2 feet deep and 10" or 12" tall. It'll hold 70 bags of plastics and the best part is the lid is designed to stack more on top so my tackle bag nestled in tight for a bungie Quote
BaitMonkey1984 Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 I started using soft plastics two years ago, and now it is my go to. I would estimate that I have over 500 bags of soft plastics. I keep them in 3700 boxes base upon color, size, technique. If they are hitting black/brown worms I grab one 3700 and have 16+ types of worms to choose for. However, if I am going out after work, or not taking the boat out, I want to downsize my lures. I therefore keep a 3700 box of my "go to" lures. That includes only a few of each soft plastic, but everything I could want to use on a short trip. Quote

Then when you need a dropshot worm, grab the dropshot bag and find your worm or what ever you're looking for. this is what I do. I have all my lures in 7-8 zip lock bags. they all fit in a rubbermaid container which fits in a duffel bag w/ shoulder strap. if i'm going out on my boat/canoe the whole bag goes with me. if i'm fishing from kayak or shore the bag stays in the truck of my car but i cherry pick what i'll need and stuff a fanny pack for the conditions/body of water. and i can always run back to the car in an emergency. i chose a rubbermaid container w/ a lid b/c i can easily snap it shut during a down pour and none of my bags get soaked (i have a jon boat so there are no lockers to keep things dry). all soft plastics stay in their original bags and just get put into zip locks w/ extra wide bottoms and zip lock tops. annexation Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I struggle with that problem, too, sometimes - wanting to bring everything. But I consider it an exercise in decisiveness. I'll usually stuff five or so bags of whatever in my backpack and call it good. I bring a few confidence bags (senkos, flukes, and ikas, typically) and then a few more bags of stuff I want to try force-feeding the fishing that day, or stuff I'm not experienced with and want to develop confidence in. But I'm very familiar with most of my local fishing holes and know what works best in those areas; I already have a general idea of water conditions before I walk out the door, and a quick glance at the sky usually tells me if I'll be fishing green pumpkin or black that day. When fishing new areas, I'm as guilty as the next guy of hefting around a bit too much. Quote
I.rar Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I bring a few of each bait I will be fishing in small snack sized zip lock bags. Cuts the clutter down pretty good. Quote
