New I bought 2 Fuegos from TW when they were closing them out at $144 and one Curado 51E from ohya an closeout at $98.  Sure could kick myself for not stretching my funds to the limit by buying a couple more 51Es.  I also took advantage of TW's closeout of the T3 1016 reels.  I like using the T-wing and the brakes are fantastic on these reels.  Used (and cheap) were some 1600C round reels and a couple older "gold" Carbonlites.  Both outperform their price by a wide margin.

In rods one of my best buys was a Rainshadow RX7.  Love this rod.  Managed to pick up a couple Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth casting rods the first year they came out for $71 shipped.  Another case of wishing I bought at least 2 of each model.  ORdered a ML Tatula rod over the weekend from Walmart that ran just over $94 with tax.  I expect this rod to be a favorite in its power range based on how much I like the first Tatula rod I bought.

Almost forgot the new Quantum 6'10" HF Superlite and Tour Edition.  Not a lot of use for a Heavy rod in my area, but I sure like these rods, and the price was fantastic.

Well two of my most recent scores are a 1000fj stradic nib for $100 and 2 rx7 blanks for $23 each. I figure it will cost me another 35-40 in components to build them so they should come out to about $60 each. Cha Ching

Wow! That's a heck of a dickerin' right there, nice work!! Mind if I asked what the trade was? I love a good wheel & deal. Nothing like the barter system!

They take used rods and reels in trade. You fill out an online form listing what you have to trade. You rate your stuff based on criteria they give you. They are very generous if your stuff is in good shape. I listed my stuff as excellent condition and it wasn't disputed. I had several rods and reels that I had acquired while working at BPS. They were just gathering dust. One thing, they only take name brand tackle. Can't trade anything store branded, such as BPS Pro Qualifier, Extreme, or anything like that.

Good condition Fenwick Aetos for $75

I got a used Falcon Expert 7' Medium for $75.  I believe this length sold for $290.  Thought it was the deal of the century.  Rod has fished okay so far, but looks like it was around during the Civil War.  :teeth:

I picked up a used Aetos in like new condition at a fair price, but it wasn't anywhere near the deal you got.  Great buy.

Nice!  Got a used Alphas F in pretty good cosmetic condition for $175.  Drag had been upgraded by seller.  Didn't use it much before it locked up.  Yoke spring had come off.  Wound up putting another $54 in parts in it.  Sometimes a good deal isn't as good as you thought it was.  :sad78:  However, it is a sweet reel now after a full tune and A7 ceramic hybrid bearings.

High end gear from members in our Flea Market. Perhaps the best

example was a purchase from a member who had won two Shimano

Stella at a local tournament. I ended up buying NIB Stella 1000FA and

a 2500FB for $600, $300 each.
