Bass2124 Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Never owned a bass boat, always have had v hulls. Out of curiosity, what would happen if I took out 4 200 lb adults on a 115/150hp Z6 or Z7 Nitro? I see they normally have 3 seats but was wondering how the boat operates with a large load capacity? Super User Jig Man Posted December 1, 2014 Super User Posted December 1, 2014 Probably like it was1/2 full of water. 1 Quote

Super User WIGuide Posted December 1, 2014 Super User Posted December 1, 2014 Performance wise it wouldn't be as good as it would if there were only one or two people, but it's not like you'd sink it. It'd be noticeably slower out of the hole, and top end would suffer especially since the 4th guy would be sitting on the edge of the front deck. The hull wouldn't lift as much which is what would make the top end suffer. Usually with 4 people though you're not trying to run wide open. Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted December 1, 2014 Super User Posted December 1, 2014 Looked at the model specs and you can safely carry 4 passengers with a max person cap of 600lb, in a Z-7, the Z-6 is max 3 persons. You could do it but you're overloading the boat and if there is an accident YOU will be held liable. I look at it from a Captain's position where the vessel I operate can only carry 74 passengers.....could it hold more yes. But the stability of the vessel is the main reason for this listing. Odd are you put 4 200lb persons on one side of the boat you are going to list dangerously and may cause you to take on water. Will you sink, probably not, could it result in a unsafe boat if you get caught in some bad weather? Yes it could. Is this risk really worth the extra person? Not to me, I'd rather tell a friend sorry maybe next tme then risk everyones safety to not hurt someones feelings......but then again this comes from someone who deals with vessel and passenger safety and strictly regulated by the Coast Guard. blackmax135 Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Well I don't exactly know much about a nitro but I can give you something to go on. I have a 17'6" pro craft bass boat with a 135. I had 6 people in my boat 5 witch weighed around 200. One weighed around 100. It struggled getting up because it was so far down in the water but once it got going it wasn't to bad but the gas mileage killed me. lol Probably wasn't to safe to be taking that many people in my boat in the first place but you live and ya learn Quote

Super User gulfcaptain Posted December 3, 2014 Super User Posted December 3, 2014 you do know that the max person capacity is for a single person weighing 600 pounds.. look at the total load it can handle Sorry sir, that is not the way it go's. That total weight(1390lbs) includes all tackle, fuel, batteries, baitwells full of water, etc. The max weight calc for passengers in that 1390lbs is 600lbs. It's not 600lbs per person, then the weight of 2 bigger boned persons would be 1200lbs plus the fuel at 6.5lbs per gallon roughly would be somewhere around 250lbs....that math would put you over the 1390lbs of total weight allowed. And we haven't even figured in batteries and livewell water weight. Quote
