Super User HoosierHawgs Posted November 30, 2014 Super User Posted November 30, 2014 Looking to buy the thing. Would like to see it in person, and would obviously check out the motor (oil, plug pressure, and the bilge/aerator pumps) but from the pictures, the Gel Coat, Seats, and Carpet looks immaculate. Would it be worth checking out? http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/boa/4737723899.html Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted November 30, 2014 Super User Posted November 30, 2014 I'd try to get it for $3500. It's almost 20yrs old, older motor, and it's 16ft. Quote

Super User gulfcaptain Posted November 30, 2014 Super User Posted November 30, 2014 Also, if you do look at it, look in the corners under the back hatch and look for any kind of stress cracks....for that purpose, I'd look in all the hatches with a flashlight to see if there is any as well as where the motor is mounted. Ok, I will make a note of this if I go take a look at the boat. Could save me from some heartbreak (and a possible wallet eater) later! Thanks again! Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted December 1, 2014 Super User Posted December 1, 2014 Looks like it could be a decent boat, but he's a little high on the price. I'd think it'd be a decent buy around $3,500- $3,800 range. Definitely have to check it out though, make sure the gel coat isn't rough. Check the transom for stress cracks, basically just make sure the boat is structurally sound. That's more of the main concern. If pumps don't work, you've got a little bargaining point, but don't expect him to come down hundreds of dollars if a $25 dollar pump isn't working. If I'm not mistaken this is one of the odd Nitro hulls. I haven't ridden in a Z6 to know if they are the same, but the older smaller Nitro's want to lean like crazy to one side unless trimmed. Not usually a big deal unless things start getting really rough, but something to keep in mind. Also, do not buy it without a test drive. 2 Quote
Snakehead Whisperer Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Nice looking boat. The advice in this thread will get you where you need to be. Definitely take it for a spin if you're going to spend your money on it. On a side note, it never ceases to amaze me the vagueness of used boat ads. I know for certain that if I were selling a boat that I would list the actual model #'s of the electronics, trolling motors, etc., as well as detailed information about the boat/upgrades/maintenance. I also wish I had a buck for every boat ad that I've read that included a "trolley motor." lol 2 Quote
Chris S Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Compression test on the motor wont hurt considering its age, also ask about ethanol treatments that have been used during storage, if its that clean it may have set in his garage and not seen very much usage, ask why he is selling it , looks like he is selling a mini van and a Harley from that one pic. Do you have anyone who can go with you that's knowledgeable about boats? The above advice is awesome!!! Just dont let the nice paint job blurrr your vision Quote
Chris S Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Man there are few folks out your way that need their head examined http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/boa/4777506746.html On a side note lots to look at for $1k to $4K http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/search/boa?query=fishing+boat&minAsk=1000&maxAsk=4000 Quote
