Super User retiredbosn Posted December 6, 2014 Super User Posted December 6, 2014 Glad the reports are still improving. I couldn't imagine what he's going through. You and your fellow employees should be commended for making sure the farming is continuing. It's a hard way to make a living, thank you., 1

Super User ww2farmer Posted December 12, 2014 Author Super User Posted December 12, 2014 2 weeks since the accident, and I talked to his wife just this morning to see how it's going. He's hanging in there. Every other day he is having procedures to clean/rebuild things, so he's in terrible pain 24/7. They sit him up a couple time a day now, and he's speaking, eating/drinking, and has talked on the phone a time or two. She has asked for us to NOT go visit him yet, as it's still quite gruesome, and he gets worn out by visitors really fast. A couple of the guys went up without her blessing last weekend, and I guess it was not well received. I was planning on going this sunday to visit him, but won't now, I will abide by her wishes and wait till she personally green lights me. She said we will continue to operate as is, in our normal fashion for the time being, and is actually quite pleased with how we have handled the situation in his absence. That's all I know for now. 1
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted December 12, 2014 Super User Posted December 12, 2014 Just seeing this for the first time. Very sorry for all involved and thoughts sent for a return to some normalcy for him. Stories like this one put me in absolute awe of what the human body is capable of absorbing and continuing to function. Whoever put it together did a pretty dang good job.
wnybassman Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 So glad to hear forward progress is still being made. Kudos to all you guys making the business side less worrisome for the family.
Super User retiredbosn Posted December 12, 2014 Super User Posted December 12, 2014 Another good report, that's great. FWIW I commend you for waiting until he is ready for visitors, and for keeping the farm going. Continual prayers for steady progress. Hang in there
Weld's Largemouth Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 This is awful. I can't even imagine what his family and friends are feeling.... You are true to your boss, keeping the farm running
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 14, 2014 Global Moderator Posted December 14, 2014 Good call on not visiting when his wife has asked you not to, she's already stressed out enough as it is. I know when we were in the NICU with my son we had people calling every day pestering us on when they could come visit (visitors weren't allowed except grandparents, hospital rules). We'd made it very clear that nobody would be visiting until we got moved to a regular room or we got to go home and all those calls did was add extra stress that we really didn't need at the time. Glad to hear that he is making strides in the right direction, hope that he keeps making progress.
Super User ww2farmer Posted December 14, 2014 Author Super User Posted December 14, 2014 I have seen multiple sides of humanity in full bloom during this crisis. IMHO, the best thing I can do is work and hold up my end of our boss/employee relationship, and respect the families wishes. 1

His wife & he both appreciate what you are doing behind the scenes while they deal with the major problems. 1
Super User Lund Explorer Posted December 15, 2014 Super User Posted December 15, 2014 You are right on. His wife & he both appreciate what you are doing behind the scenes while they deal with the major problems. Agreed! I'm sure that one than one employee is concerned about the boss' health and also their future employment prospects. Both are valid concerns, but one obviously should take the top priority at this point.
Super User bigbill Posted December 16, 2014 Super User Posted December 16, 2014 My thoughts and prayers go out for all involved. Sorry to hear this. I build big 200,000lb lathes with big gears. I play with cub tractors, big estate mowers and garden tractors. I made a set of duo cross tire chains and had the chains grab my 300lb body and throw me to the ground. The tire was heading for me as I rolled out of the way. My point is things happen in milliseconds. We need to think quick if we have time to think. Please be safe. God bless bill I fell off a Tractor and got run over. That's another post. I was a logger full and part time. The national timber fellers association say ask yourself is what I'm about to do safe?
Super User ww2farmer Posted December 18, 2014 Author Super User Posted December 18, 2014 If the mods could kindly put this thread to bed, I'll start a new one on his progress. I went to see him today and he was better than I thought.
