Super User ww2farmer Posted November 29, 2014 Super User Posted November 29, 2014 I don't know what else to say, the title says it all. I have had my job, and known my boss for almost 20 years. We don't always get along, or agree, but we have made it work for the both of our benefit, and it's like working with family. You never think a day is going to come like what happened to day.................and that is horror and tragedy. We had a terrible accident on the farm today, my boss while clearing a clog from the combine head was sucked leg first into the machine. I was not there to see it, I was driving truck on another job we had. The guys there did they best they could to get him out and stable until the helicopter arrived to take him away. We were all alerted to the accident, and I decided to shut everything down for the day, and we all waited on pins and needles for information. It came slowly. His wife called me about 5pm or so, and told me that the right leg from the hip down was totally gone, and had to be amputated, the left leg is not out of the woods, and he is in a coma. Somewhat stable, I guess as stable as you can get from being almost cut in half. It's still pins and needles.................and there is nothing I can do about it. His wife is keeping it together for now. Myself and a few of the other longtime employees have agreed to carry on with or work tomorrow. There is nothing we can do anyways, but wait, worry, prey and hope. This is a game changing event for all parties. Obviously for my boss and his wife, and all of us too. So if anybody has any positive thoughts and/or prayers they would like to send this way, we would all be thankful for it.
