Pa Angler Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 I recently purchased the Ultimate Bluegill, Crappie & Sunfish I noticed there's a place to put a treble hook on the belly. Does anyone put one there? Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted April 22, 2007 Super User Posted April 22, 2007 Yes - when fishing open water bare banks. No- when fishing grass and any type of cover. Quote

Super User David P Posted April 22, 2007 Super User Posted April 22, 2007 Hey, I had a question too and didn't want to start a new thread. I was thinking about starting to use Mattlures and other bigger swim baits. What size rod and action and size line.. I'm not going for 12 lbers, just 6-8 lbers and what not! Quote
Lightninrod Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Hey, I had a question too and didn't want to start a new thread. I was thinking about starting to use Mattlures and other bigger swim baits. What size rod and action and size line.. I'm not going for 12 lbers, just 6-8 lbers and what not! I caught my PB(and several others)using his Baby Bass on a 7', 6" Kistler Heavy LTA Helium caster with a Shimano 100 size reel(Antares AR), and 20 lb test Seaguar Carbon Pro fluro. Most any 7'+ heavy rod and a stout baitcaster will work just fine. Dan Quote
Super User David P Posted April 23, 2007 Super User Posted April 23, 2007 d**n I'm too broke to buy a new rod / reel. My rod is a 6"6 ML and I have a MH 6"6 but both don't hold lures over 1oz and the reels I have all are only up to 8 or 10lb line. Any suggestions for good swimbaits for those setups? I really want to get into using swim baits, but just can't afford another setup. Thanks =) Quote
Pa Angler Posted April 23, 2007 Author Posted April 23, 2007 Yes - when fishing open water bare banks. No- when fishing grass and any type of cover. I was going in that direction but wanted opions on it in case anglers found it effected the action in a negative way. What size hooks work the best? Thanks Guys Quote
