Hello and Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Just wanted to ask everyone if deep bank cranking is any good. I tried a few times with some deep cranks but they either get snagged or lost. I have some success with lipless cranks but I am still curious if deep cranks from the bank is good for the pocketbook?

I would not try doing it as you have found you will lose a ton.  If your trying to get deep from the shore a swim jig or a dropshot will be a better option with a lot less losses.

Depends on how deep you're talking, but I've lost tons of squarebills and DT 6's from the bank this fall in rip rap.  Your gonna lose a lot more baits from the bank regardless so I don't mess with deep cranking uphill.

Thanks, will stick to the lipless since I have fewer losses with those

Deep cranking is more about being on fish than searching for them. Before fish finders got as good as they are today, most would find a brush pile or hump or other cover or structure in the 18' to 20'+ range and throw deep cranks around that sort of stuff and it is still done today but those are high percentage areas, unlike casting from the bank which is blind casting. Fishing deep cranks from the bank can work, especially if you have a channel swing or drop that is close enough to get the bait there with a normal cast, but for the most part square bills, mid runners like the DT-6 and lipless are going to be better just because there is more water at that depth available than there is deep water and those baits tend to be better search baits.

Pulling any crank up a bank will get snagged.

I would try a spinnerbait or carolina rig  Carolina with heavy braid and lighter dlouro/mono leader so you dont lose the whole rig.

It can be done. Just have to let the lure back itself off every time it makes contact which can be every turn of the handle. Better to fish parallel

Fishing deep crank bait uphill into snags is a waste of time and money.

If want to give the bass a crank look, use a Scrounger jig with a Sluggo or Fluke trailer.

My thought would be that throwing a deeper diving crank from the bank would be more trouble than it is worth.  A possible exception might be if there is a dock that you can stand out on the end of and throw parallel for a few casts.

I use to do it a lot and did very well with very few snags. The trick for me was to crank either super slow so it just ticked the rocks, or crank really fast for a couple turns then stop for a second and repeat the whole way in. I used to catch several big fish every year doing that from the bank.

For the pocket book, that's a no. Especialy fishing lakes your direction... Deep there is like less than 10 feet. Lol. Deep here is 20. Would not recommend it for a second. And deffinatly not a 10XD... I learned that fast.

All i do is bank fish and i use alot of deep dive cranks yes you will loose them ever now and then and it hurts badly when its your favriot deep dive but ive caught lots of fish in deep dive. I like em best with deep rivers.

^^ This is a good way to do it. I catch fish off docks with deep divers. At cachuma lake there's also a couple old boat ramps that I deep crank a lot and catch fish (small ones so far). I have caught fish on the bank with 5xds though.
