OntarioFishingGuy Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 I have been enjoying a10.5 foot ML Avid steelhead rod with a Stradic 3000FJ, as well as a 6'8'' LTB with a Chronarch 50E. Quote
dwong Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 I love my LTB 610MLXF with a Saros, but hoping to upgrade to the Stradic Ci4+ Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted November 28, 2014 Super User Posted November 28, 2014 Man Ultralight fishing is a blast!!!! Them 2lbers are fun as heck on an ultralight set up, and then you occassionally run into that rogue 4/5lber and you better pack a lunch in thwt case found that out the hard way a couple weeks ago. This puppy was caught on my ul set up a few weeks ago using a Storm chug a bug. Quite confident it was bigger than 2# but no where near my biggest bass. May have been the most fun I ever had catching a LMB, the fish actually peeled off quite a bit of drag and took a considerable amount of time to land. Quote
timsford Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 My favorite combo i own is a team lews carbon spinning reel on a fenwick elite tech smallmouth spinning rod. Total weight of the combo is less than 12 oz with a 300 size reel. Weighs less than just my old daiwa 3000 size reel alone and has enough power to reel in every fish ive hooked on it so far. Quote

Super User new2BC4bass Posted November 30, 2014 Super User Posted November 30, 2014 The combo I use the most which has become my favorite is a Fenwick Techna AV with a Curado E7 reel. It's my plastics combo. With 15# Invisex it's darn near perfect for what I do. Mike Hmmmm. My 201E7 is looking for a home. Assume it is the 7' MHF rod? I do have a Medium and a Heavy also. Quote
Patrick Morrow Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 For heavy saltwater use, Penn Spinfisher V has been my only spinning reel. Recently my old Spinfisher started to let some saltwater after 5 years of heavy use and it started to make some loud cranking sound. I probably could have disassembled and located the problem myself or sent it to service, but I thought it`s time to switch reels and pick something new. After searching for new reel after some time I decided still to buy new Spinfisher. I would love to try out something new for a longer period, but it just works so well it would not be practical. Rods, I use G.Loomis GL2. I have used a lot of rods, but it seems to be only one to still last. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted November 30, 2014 Global Moderator Posted November 30, 2014 Hmmmm. My 201E7 is looking for a home. Assume it is the 7' MHF rod? I do have a Medium and a Heavy also. It is. Trust me when I tell you, if you can find a MH/F for the E7, you'll never want to move it. I had 65# braid on at one time and used it exclusively as my heavy cover punching outfit and it did ok. As a dedicated bottom contact combo for all types of presentations, from shaky heads to flippin and pitching in moderate to heavy cover, for me its darn near perfect. Mike Quote
Big Swimbait Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Until recently, all of my combos have been ***/Lews with no complaints. But I was looking for a swimbait rod & kept seeing recommendations for the Okuma Guide Select Swimbait rod. I was extremely impressed with the rod, especially for the price. One day while surfing the auction site, I saw an Okuma Serrano reel with a C3X40 rod combo with a high bid price of $90.00 with a few hours left. Since I liked the swimbait rod so much, I did some research & found the TW price was over $300.00 for the combo. So I threw a max bid of $125.00 & forgot about it until I found out I won it for $110.00. I fished it for the first time last month in a club tournament & was more than impressed. I found myself cutting & re-tying instead of grabbing another rod. Quote
ChrisWi Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I don't have one in particular, each combo is tool. If I had to pick one combo to fish I'd say my St Croix Premier 6'6" M/F and Lews SS. Maybe not the most versitile but just a combo I love to fish with Quote
Beam Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Quantum EXO Tour 6'10" MH with a Lews Tournament Pro. Crazy light. Quantum does not get much love on this forum but the EXO Tour 6'10"is a great rod Quote
Steveo-1969 Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 For where and how I fish, I use my spinning combo every time and love it. I've had it since March and have caught everything from 6" smallmouth to a 15# muskie on it. G. Loomis WPJR 821S GLX paired with a 3000 size Shimano Stradic CI4+. 10# Sufix 832 braid with 8# fluoro leader. Quote
