Super User Long Mike Posted November 26, 2014 Super User Posted November 26, 2014 My wife and I are celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary today. As I think back, it's a wondrous life we have had together. It will come as no surprise that we have hit a few rocky roads, but we stuck together. What a life we have shared! There as been the joy of children and grandchildren (and now a great-grandchild,) There has been the grief of losing parents, a grand-daughter, and close friends. The grief never goes away, but becomes more bearable over time. We have experienced the intimacy of dancing cheek to cheek, to the advent of rock and roll, to the degeneration of popular music into hiphop. We have witnessed man's first walk on the moon. We have witnessed and eagerly accepted the introduction of the personal computer, although they were very expensive at the time. My first computer was an Apple II. With accessories, it cost over $3000. We have witnessed the birth of the Internet, and now wonder how we lived without it. Likewise with Smart Phones. In all honesty, I think I could write a book about the life experiences my love and I have shared, such as having lived in the Middle East, Far East, and Europe, but that is not for these forums. Suffice it to say that I have had the great opportunity to spend the majority of my life with my lover and my best friend, and we have had a ball! 9 Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted November 26, 2014 Super User Posted November 26, 2014 One by one each year flew by, since you both said 'I Do' 45 years of memories, shared by the two of you. From big events and holidays, to simple daily pleasures. Some tearful times along life's way, some joys that can't be measured. One by one each year now gone, but still they're yours forever each and every memory, of a beautiful life together. Happy Anniversary Mike. A-Jay 2 Quote

Super User Sam Posted November 26, 2014 Super User Posted November 26, 2014 We will been married 39 years this December 4th. It is really great to be able to share so many years with one special person. I don't *** those that don't get married and have children, anyway. They miss the commitment of a marriage and knowing that someone will always be there for them. Congrats on the 45 Mike. May you and your wife have another wonderful 45 years together. 1 Quote

Super User DogBone_384 Posted November 26, 2014 Super User Posted November 26, 2014 Did you fish together? Now there's the $64 question! Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted November 27, 2014 Author Super User Posted November 27, 2014 Now there's the $64 question! My wife is a very fair complected red-head and cannot tolerate the sun. Plus she thinks fish are icky. Needless to say, she does not fish, nor has she ever been aboard my boat. In all honesty, I wish she enjoyed the sport as much as I do, but I also enjoy my time on the water with my male friends. Sometimes it's great to get away for a while. Quote

Needless to say, she does not fish, nor has she ever been aboard my boat. In all honesty, I wish she enjoyed the sport as much as I do, but I also enjoy my time on the water with my male friends. Sometimes it's great to get away for a while. My boss, er, wife, is from the Philippines, she's got no problems being in the sun all day. She's not a big fishing fan, but likes being on the kayak, so she'll go a couple times each summer. Although she says she's "really not into it", she's pretty excited/happy when she catches fish. Additionally, she can nap while floating around the pond we frequent (quite a talent) so that's a bonus. She also knows fishing is my escape, and with both of us working two jobs, she doesn't make a fuss if I take off and fish for the day a few times per year. Best of luck fishing, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Oh, BTW - fish ARE icky... Quote
