EvanT123 Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Tip tops have two numbers. Ring inner diameter measured in millimeters and tube inner diameter (the part that goes on the rod tip) In 64's of an inch. You can measure with calipers or call the rod manufacturer and see what they say. Hope this helps. Quote
cyclops2 Posted November 25, 2014 Author Posted November 25, 2014 Perfect Evan I have a accurate micrometer. At 1 time there used to be rod guides & tips of all materials & prices. Are there any places like that today ? I have about 7 rods with grooves cut into some of the guides. 1 place with good selection is needed. I have 5 of the kids rods that need some guides also. Many thanks. Rich Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 A google search for rod building supplies will give you several choices. Mudhole Tackle is one of the biggest. Guides aren't rated for lb test. The tube size in 64th" needs to fit the tip of the blank easily but without slop. I usually order one size on each side of what I think I need to compensate for manufacturing variance. The ring size should match the smallest running guide. A size up or down won't hurt anything, but there's no advantage either. Quote
