bassboy107 Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Earlier this year i purchased my first duckett, I was so excited until i actually used it. The action of the rod was nothing like I envisioned, it was way too soft for my taste. I got the 7' 6" heavy. I was looking for a jig rod and I prefer a pretty fast tip for jigs, like an extra fast so I can snap it out of weeds. I was wondering should I give duckett another chance, and if so, what rod would you recommend for jigs out of the duckett lineup that has a faster tip. Thanks! Quote
DFrench97 Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 What is the action on your rod? A 7'6'' Heavy F or XF should be perfect for flipping. Quote
JGBassinAL Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Ducketts are pretty "soft" in the tip. When I am throwing a jig in open water on a ledge then I prefer a soft tip on my rod, but if I am throwing it around laydowns then I prefer a flippin stick. I have used a lot of Ducketts but I no longer use them because of many quality control issues that I have experienced. I would try a different brand if I were you, but it's your choice. Quote
bassboy107 Posted November 25, 2014 Author Posted November 25, 2014 That is the reason that I am questioning buying another because they don't provide line, lure or taper, and no where around me carries duckett so I would blindly be purchasing and hoping it is what I like. Why the heck would you do that? So many choices/options, must be something good you can get your hands on to be sure it's what you want. Quote
Megastink Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 That's more of a flipping stick. If you want more of an open water jig rod, I suggest there 7'3" MH Micro Magic pro. Quote
