What the title says. What's the best store/best deals? What have been your best Black Friday pick ups and where? Just curious so that I can make good decisions on where to buy. I have pretty much given up online purchasing right now (except for the occasional TWH order), because of my experiences.

Probably one of the best, you just mentioned. TW's black Friday sales are usually great.

You're not likely to find many. Dicks, gander, bps, cabelas, etc., will all have a select few items heavily discounted. The selection is usually pretty poor as they're just trying to dump closeout items, or stuff that doesn't sell. After paying tax, you end up spending extra. Unless the ad shows an item you can't live without, it's mostly a waste of time.

Only in-stores I can shop is Cabela's and Dick's Sporting Goods.  A friend has found some really great deals at both places.  I haven't.  Forget my 2 local Walmarts and the local Target.  All 3 suck when it comes to fishing gear.  I buy most of my lures from DSG when they have a sale or put them on clearance.  There is a Sports Authority but they don't seem to have any of the type of gear I am usually looking for.  Of course the fact that I have stopped there once in the past 3-4 years may have something to do with me not finding any great buys there.  :teeth3:

That's just about the way I see it. Having worked at BPS, I've noticed each year, they seem to have less and less attractive deals. Just tossed their flyer in the trash. Nothing of interest.

There is 1 thing I'm interested in at BPS this year,

and that's another Carbonlite rod. I plan on buying

a M or MH casting rod.

Other than that, Spring Classic is where the BPS

deals will be mostly.

DSG - haven't seen what they're offering yet.

When does the Black Friday sale start at TWH

Gander mountain has a deal w/ a $30 rebate on Lew's tournament MG. This is seperate from the Lew's manufacture $30 rebate. That makes it a $80 reel. It is $60 if you order it online from their website and use the code SAVENOW, and then apply both rebates.

I refuse to shop at Dick's as their selection is hopeless. Also, my firm stance on the second amendment is problematic with the way they sell firearms. After taking all of their AR's down, but leaving the ammo their, which is what makes them the most money, for the sake of "political correctness" irks me off.

Dicks still sells AR's through their Field and Stream stores.

Interesting. Will check up on this. We do not have any close, which is an annoyance. It still irks me they did this, as well as the fact that they bought out Gallyans. They were great stores, with a great selection of outdoor gear, fishing, camping, kayaking, boating, they had it all. Even their own store brand fishing gear. The closest thing to Gallyans now is Academy Sports near where my family lives in Jacksonville, Florida. I make trips to it each year. Just not a fan of Dick's At least the ones near me.
