corn-on-the-rob Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Anyone use any of these? Ike designed it and it intrigued me as an alternative to a chatter bait. seemed like the hook up ratio might be better with the smaller/swiveling hook. While on topic anyone use the *** crazy jig? Rob Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted July 21, 2015 Super User Posted July 21, 2015 I hate to necro a thread, but there is no information on this site at all about this lure, so I wanted to give my little review. I recently picked up a 3/8 oz Molix lover to try out. The swinging hook and shovel nose blade design intrigued me. If you didn't already know, the nose/blade on this is plastic and it's in a fixed position. So the blade does not move at all. Instead, the body of the lure thumps as it is retrieved, rather than a blade vibrating around and clacking off the head like a traditional chatterbait. Because of this design, the lure comes through the water much more like a small swim jig rather than thumping like a normal chatterbait. The profile of these lures is smaller than a traditional chatterbait as well. With the nose/blade of this lure being plastic, longevity is also a concern of mine for this bait, especially if you were to throw it around docks, bridges, rocks, or wood. For the money for this lure, I am a little disappointed in what I got. I'm not saying it won't catch fish, but I was expecting more of a chatterbait, and instead I got a strangely designed/overpriced swim jig. 5 Quote
blckshirt98 Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 I actually threw one of these for the first time this past Sunday on a lake where the chatterbait bite has been on fire and I got my first 3 fish of the day on it. I used the Sexy Shad and added on a 3" clear/blue flake Yum grub trailer and it swims with more of a prounounced tight side-to-side "snake" pattern compared to other chatterbaits because the connecting joint between the body and hook is at the center of the bait. It's almost like a vibrating squarebill with a snake-like swimming pattern...kind of hard to describe. It also wants to run shallow, in the top 2 feet of the water column? I'd throw this in situations where I'd want to throw a shallow diving squarebill, but want more action/vibration, where I don't want bottom trebles to catch on debris or weeds in the water. I can see this thing having a use in the right situation and also giving the fish something they haven't seen before, but it definitely isn't a replacement for a traditional chatterbait. Quote
Super User HoosierHawgs Posted July 21, 2015 Super User Posted July 21, 2015 Looks like I might look into this. I catch a lot of fish on lipless and squarebill crankbaits, and the action of this thing would probably be just killer, depending on how it comes through the coontail and hydrilla in my area. 1 Quote
