Robert Riley Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 So what's new about this Veritas 2.0? I'm looking at the winches and I'm curious what the difference is, can any of you abu fans give me some info? Quote
JeziHogg Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Not an Abu fan, but one main difference is the spiral wrapped carbon the blanks are made out of. Also I think they have a "clicking" locking nut. Quote
Texas bassman Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Buy one. Good rod for $99. U get a free hoodie from abu too if u send in a rebate. Quote
Robert Riley Posted December 11, 2014 Author Posted December 11, 2014 Buy one. Good rod for $99. U get a free hoodie from abu too if u send in a rebate. I'll get it for $45, but no hoodie. I placed the order within 20 minutes of getting paid haha. If it's not spent on tuition or "soda pop" it's spent on fishing stuff, such is life. Quote
kikstand454 Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Whoa dude, where did you get a 2.0 winch for $45!!!!????? Help a brother out! Quote
fisherrw Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I'll get it for $45, but no hoodie. I placed the order within 20 minutes of getting paid haha. If it's not spent on tuition or "soda pop" it's spent on fishing stuff, such is life. that's crazy! Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted December 15, 2014 Super User Posted December 15, 2014 That is a heck of a deal for a gen 2! I haven't held one yet, but I'm hoping the locking nut is a little more refined (rounded off) than the gen 1... pretty much my only complaint about that rod. Quote
Texas bassman Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 That's great man. What college do u fish for? A coworder of mine fishes for Murray state Quote
Robert Riley Posted December 16, 2014 Author Posted December 16, 2014 University of Illinois! A friend of mine just graduated from Murray. Quote
Texas bassman Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 I work at basspro so I get good deals on fishing gear! Quote
Hattrick7 Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Got the 7 winch and 7 3 mh. Winch only taken it out 3 times and the rod has been awesome so far. I've never had a CB rod before but it loads up very well and has plenty of backbone to haul em in. I've been throwing lipless cranks and have caught over 25 bass ranging from 1 to 3lbers. Casts really well, has a great feel. Plus the free hoodie is nice 7 3 mh. It's thicker at above the reel seat than my 7 0 Veritas. Both mh. This one is a stout rod no doubt. I was a little concerned that the sensitivity wouldn't be as good but it's still there. Using it as a dedicated jig rod. Didn't get hit on the jig so threw trig stick worm. The sensitivity was good. A little different than the old one. I've only used it twice so far with not many bites so tough to say. The one I did hook into was a nice 3 lber and the set was solid. Feels a tad stiffer than my old 7 0. Quote
Hattrick7 Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Forgot to mention of all the ones I hooked up with on the winch only one came unbuttoned and that one was a like a 10" dink which I eventually caught. Very limited time with it but so far so good. Quote
Robert Riley Posted December 18, 2014 Author Posted December 18, 2014 I didn't like the sensitivity, but that's compared to my dobyns champion extreme haha. I'm not super worried about bottom sensitivity with my cranking rod. Quote
Sonik Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Wooo! Murray State! As a 2009 alumni I am extremely proud to see them doing so well with the bass team. Quote
Blues19 Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Those Collegiate Discounts rocked! Wish I was still in college so I could get that discount. Murray State has had some darn good fisherman. I'm still a bit shocked we beat them at Kentucky Lake. And A Veritas 2 for $45 is awesome. I wish I could get that! Quote
Sonik Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 You're probably coming out ahead with paying more for tackle than paying tuition. Unless you were scholarship or you're buying an unbelievable amount of tackle. Quote
