sweet looking reel, if you don't mind shoot me a pm after you have used it and let me know what you think!

How good are the rod/reel sales on black friday typically?

TW is generally a 15 or 20% off all rods and reels except megabass and shimano I believe...

I've been eyeing that reel  and am somewhat torn between the 2500 and 3000. I'd like to know what you think of that reel once you've fished it a bit.

TW has done 20% off on most of the stock on black friday, including rods and reels (although maybe not all of them?), and that's on top of individual markdowns, as I understand. I would have my eye on the Kistler Magnesium TS's currently running about 30% off on TW...if you got 20% on top of that, it would be highway robbery.

Lots of individual manufacturers will do their own sales around then, including possibly some BR sponsors who may announce it here with a post.

Line Pic? I guess I never thought of that. Are they really helpful?

I want one of those rods too.

Forgot I did pick these up just because they were staring at me.

Overheard at a DSG, not long ago:

MY WIFE: "Zooms"? Don't you have enough of those already?

ME: No.

Maybe you'll be in luck -- actually, I hadn't looked at those before, but they already seem a decent price, as is.

I don't know about you, but when I stumble on upon a great deal on something, and pull the trigger, I walk on a cloud for a day.

I just ordered, on FFO Tackle (tipped off on another thread), a discontinued Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth Casting rod, 6'9" MH-F.

$130 original price with 42% off discount, and an additional -$15 with a current promo code ... so, $60 before tax and shipping.

And I don't even use casting gear. I guess I'm going to start. Now I just need a reel...

sounds like a good deal the 134.99 would cost me 175 plus shipping so roughly 200 maybe 225 for just the guide select i haven't been able to find it locally yet unfortunately

I just ordered two of them myself! Got both shipped to my door for $116! Can't wait to give them a try, not bad for a two brand new rods that retailed for $130 each!

Thanks -- I have been looking at those. I have two Pfleuger spinning reels and love them.

I was thinking I should have bought two also, one of each of the 1-piece models they had left.

That's exactly what I did. One 6'9 MHF and one 6'10 MHMF. Wish they had some spinning... That's what I really needed, this was more of an impulse. Too good of a deal to pass up. Been looking to try a Fenwick for a while now. Interested to see how it compares to my Arsenal of St Croix avids.

This thread Bait Monkey Victim Support Group isn't doing any better than those divorce or marriage groups. Haha

Clearly, the true purpose of the thread has revealed itself as being for groups of victims to support the Bait Monkey.

He always wins.

My past 20 years of purchases were small. Every few years a rod and reel combo to replace one that needed replacing, a pack of plastic worms or other expendables here and there... replace a lost spinner, floating minnow, or buzz bait.

I recently moved into our summer cottage and am converting it into a year round home. So it's kind of a fishing expenditure... Just don't tell Mrs. H that lol.

So.... I had to expand my equipment for the extra fishing time that the future holds.

2x Fenwick eagle casting rods

2x gander mountain casting reels (cork handle model)

Fenwick hmx casting Rod

Abu Garcia Ora casting reel

Fenwick eagle spinning rod

Pflueger president spinning reel

Pflueger supreme spinning reel

O yeah. Bought a boat. It's an oldie. 79 glastron with 115 Johnson. I strapped a 70lbs Minn Kota edge tolling motor on the bow. It beats the row boat with a 9.5hp Johnson that sometimes worked.

Other than some jig making supplies my tackle purchases have been the same. Although, Since joining this forum I have seen a few things I might want to try.

I know a fella who started making rods.... We talked....

I'm doomed.....
