snowboarding is an expensive hobby of mine as well..... usually it's cold and i'm ready to drop some coins on gear while not fishing too much.... then it hits me, snow falls and my money goes to the snowboard.

I hear that!  If you ever venture North to the great state of Vermont be sure to get ahold of me!  I run the volunteer operations groups that maintain all the tree skiing up at Magic Mountain as well as doing all their snowmaking pipeline and chairlift repair welding.  I'd be happy to hook it up with some free vouchers or at least a nice discount.

DirtyDeuceGoose - the hippy is my go to jig for a big bite in the spring or fall. I usually order them in 2 sizes, either 3\8 or 1/2 oz. Size depends on depth of water and also the trailer chosen. With that much living rubber there is a ton of wind resistance and action built in. Choosing a heavier head weight helps combat that. For trailers the 3\8 usually get full size beaver style baits to add bulk and weight plus castability. The 1\2 oz size I usually run a more aggressive trailer with more movement like a bigger Keitech crazy flapper, lobster, etc.

I know it isn't fishing related, but I told the monkey to take his drum and beat it. Then I put this together. Still waiting on the 15"x13" tom to be finished. Might be picking up an ash 13"x7" snare, and looking at a Tama birch kit as an "in between" set.

Are you attempting to outdo Neil Peart...

I have been doing a lot of pistol shooting in the last 3 years. Started handloading my ammo almost 2 years ago. Right now I have 3 presses (a single stage Rockchucker, an RCBS turret press and a progressive Hornady LNL). I load and shoot about 600-1000 rounds per month (depending on if my wife and/or son joins me). And have a lot of reloading components. I'm lucky, my club has an indoor range and we get together every week for fun/practice, regardless of the weather. I shoot in 2 or 3 matches per month on average.

Between that, fishing, work and school, I'm busy.

kickerfish1 those are some purdy jigs brother. :bushy-browed:

Thank you sir! Sure they look good but they also have quality components, great attention to detail, and they are well balanced.

Just spent $62 at Academy Sports. Bought a rod holder, paddle holder, waterproof phone carrier, and 50 pound Suffix Performance braid (only used braid a few times).

My lipless order came in last night!

4 Cotton Cordells super spots

5 SK Red Eyes

4 Rat-l-traps

Z-man project chatter

A couple Spro frogs

Oh and I scored a 44 in measuring board off eBay for under 20. I couldn't even find a 21 for that price.

The bait monkey's hold over me is getting stronger........

A broken rod, tempting bargain bins, and a great deal on Flea Bay led to a tackle binge this last week.

Everything is new to me except the reel. Minus the combo, everything was purchased for $40.00, which isn't a half bad deal!

Gonna have fun testing them all out this week.

I'll hopefully get this thing wet this weekend.

Nice bait.  I had to talk myself out of buying one the other day.  I haven't looked to see if they're sold out, too tempting.

I really love the way this bait swims, and I really want it to be a fish catcher, but I haven't hooked up yet with it. :( Mattlures Hardgill still the king.

Love it! Super sensitive. Landed about 10 fish on it, all on texas rigs. Used it today in thick (ish) vegetation. Pulled in a huge snapping turtle, which broke my hook later. Also hooked a big 4 pounder, and was horsing it in over the vegetation when the hook popped out. Nothing I could do, but the rod handled the bigger bass well.

Very happy with it so far. Took a little while to get used to the smaller butt and small trigger, but I'm adjusted now. I'll put up a full first impressions review later this next week.
