Made a large Tacklewarehouse order this week. I wanted to find some better swimbaits for swim jigs.

Variety of sizes and colors but basically a $160 order of…

Xzone Swammers

Gambler EZ Vibez

Gambler EZ Swimmer

Zoom Fluke

Zman Paddlerz

A bunch of mini max in 1/4 ounce. Needed to restock this winner. Flukes are perfect trailer for these.

I got a couple packs of the Zman ZWG swimbait hooks and I’ve been very impressed thus far. Really holds the bait in place.

A few other soft plastics but those are the bunch.

I caught a 5+ lber today a @Siebert Outdoors swim jig paired with the white swammer 4”

A little restock on some soft plastics, the vegetation at a couple of lakes that I fish are thicker than usual. So I've been pitching these baits with 1/2oz-1oz weights to punch through the thick stuff.

An Academy is opening up near me and today they had a 20% soft opening sale. I decided to go check it out and promised the wife I wouldn’t spend too much.

I resupplied my Senkos and Trick Worms, as well as some UV Speed Worms, and more natural colored Rage Swimmers which I’m itching to try out this week.   I’m new to cranking this year and the most recommended here at BR was the KVD 1.5, they have performed as advertised.  The chartreuse black/blue have been especially good to me.

Also I got a chance to handle a Shimano SLX casting rod in person.  It’s one of the several rods I’m considering buying soon to replace my old 7’ MH/F multi purpose BC and I’ll tell you what after today it may have moved up to #1 on my list just based on the looks and feel.

I like your style. Always handle a rod before purchasing. It’s like trying on shoes.

I had to restock ona couple more things, after the outing I had yesterday. I caught a decent fish after 2 hours of struggling to connect with the bites. I figured that it had to be down to a geometry issue of too big of hook versus the size of plastic.

2 packs 4.2 sweet beavers

Houdini, Spanish fly

2 packs air tail wiggler 6.5”

trophy hunter, ssabednarg

1 pack 5” senko

houdini

3 packs 3/0 hooks

owner twistlock, wide gap plus, g lock worm

1 pack owner ultra head shaky type

1/16 4/0

I will see how these work out, hopefully good.

That’s what the guy at the local tackle shop said also, figured why not you can never have too many hooks in reality.

This cotton headed ninny muggins known as the bait monkey made me go to dicks.com today.  $120 later, I have 6 3/8oz jackhammers and 6 1/2oz. All Green pumpkin shad.  The sale is buy three, get 3 free. They are $19.99 regularly, but for $10 each, I couldn’t say no…

Stop. Be quiet. I’ve put a Bass X 6-8” MXF in my cart and taken it out about 20 times now.

I do have a bday coming up in 2 weeks however…and then Father’s Day…so that probably justifies at least 2, right?

Well I got some more smaller stuff to throw on my bfs setup, not really bfs weight stuff but the local pickings are slim. Plus some reins plastics at reduced price. I will have to be careful not to spool my poor bfs reel with these lures.

Fished the ghost perch on that rod this morning for only an hour, the slow chopped/twitched got nothing, but burned got followed right to the boat.  She was a tank!  Didn't bite, but even the follow is exciting.  So don't forget to burn, slow swim, and chop it.  Get that reel and get to throwing!  Oh, last year this was a tremendous bright moon, night bait.  I've paired it with a tat 200, bantam, and zillion hd, the zillion hasn't come off once I tried it.  Good luck!

How did the tatula 200 feel on the rod ? I am curious because it’s one of the reels that I am considering.  I am also thinking about a tranx 200 or maybe a tatula 150 but I have not been able to decide on what one yet. Also how did the rod handle the weight of the bait ? I have heard that 2.5 is getting towards the top end of the rod, thank you for your advice I appreciate it.

The TB is well balanced so all the reels felt balanced, the tat 200 included.  The small trigger on the TB feels best with the zillion platform, my extra medium size hands, and the way I palm my reel.  The rod feels like it needs a lob cast @ 3oz to me.  The chad shad throws great except for the cartwheeling that happens, especially because I tend to sidearm it.

Thank you, sounds about like what I figured the upper range would be. Yeah I plan on using 20lb mono and I know that mono tends to run a little bit thicker. I know that I am not going to be bombing cast due to the stretch at distance and the thicker gauge trebles on most small to mid size glides and swim baits.

A couple of new spinner baits lol, I got a box full of them but not this blade combo. So I had to get them. Both a 1/2 oz, I have heard good things about them on here.

The monkey is pleased with your efforts.  🙈🙈🙈

I got a ton of odds and ends recently but most notably I got some scum frogs from Midway USA to try out per @LrgmouthShad recommendation and they are fantastic.  The Trophy and the Launch are both incredibly useful frogs and come in small and larger sizes with beautiful paint jobs.

They get bit a lot and heck even I can catch a fish with them now and again!

I really like the shad color and so do the bass!

Well I finally got my reel for my tequila baccarat rod. I went with a tatula 200 for $140 otd and 50lb j braid along with a rod sock. Not too bad of a deal. I may have to invest in a leader in the future but for now I am good.
