I had some loose minnow baits in one of my boxes and fished them the other day and that bait just got hammered.

I couldn’t remember what it was and could not find it on the TW website. So I went to the nearby marina tackle store and I found it - Reaction Innovations Little Dipper.

These paddletails also have a little bit of wiggle to them and the bass around here go nuts for them. I bought a bunch more of the Little Dippers and a few bags of the Big Dippers.

Really been enjoying the bluegill color

I bought one of those this past winter solely based on a previous post of yours.  I haven't used it yet though.  Bluegill-colored lures are a proven producer for largemouth here, as sunfish represent a significant portion of their diets.

Was it the post in November where I talked about losing that enormous bass on a work trip on that color? Still wake up in a cold sweat some nights thinking about her, she was a truly awesome fish. Unlikely I'll be in that area to get another shot at her, but you never know.

No, it wasn't that one.  It was just one in this thread earlier I think.  I would never try to re-ignite a case of PTSD to someone on purpose. :rain:

BTW you're not alone.  I think about enormous lost fish frequently too.  Those images and experiences are permanently tattooed on my brain.

My main four set ups are old greenies, Curado Bantam 200’s so I decided to move in to a bit of modern technology. Having already a Kistler series 100 reel on a KLX rod I went with a 200 series this time for my IMX GLoomis jig setup.

Any line recommendations, besides braid?

Foolish or fantastic. We’ll see.

How do you like your Kistler reel? For line, I'd recommend 16# Sunline Sniper fluoro.

I really like the 100 series reel although a bit of a bfs feel to it with better line capacity. It throws a 1/4oz spinnerbait very well, but feels small in my hand. I thought it would be a too “light” for the KLX 4M rod but it hasn’t been a problem. The reel’s fast adjustability is great and is very smooth casting and cranking.

The new series 200 I’m putting on my 7’ GLoomis IMX MBR H/F for throwing jigs, shakey heads and bigger texas rigged worms.

I like the MBR rods as they can throw several baits and not just one specific presentation well. My other “greenies” are on GLoomis IMX MBR rods as well; M/F, MH/F and a CBR/F.

The baitmonkey rode me until I relented on the new reel. If I like it I’ll probably replace the other 3 with the same.

Good call on the line, I’ve been eyeing the Sunline. I have McCoy Mean Green(12#) and Crystal Clear(15#) but haven’t used mono/co-ploymer in forever being all my reels are set up with Power Pro braid. The coil in non braid lines drives me crazy!

I hear ya. If you're gonna get fluoro I'd recommend getting some KVD line conditioner. It helps. Spray on night before or morning before you go out. Sniper is quite manageable for a fluoro line.

Any experience with the McCoy brand. I’ve read great reviews, supposed to be low stretch, super limp and easy to tie knots.

(kinda like me) 😝

Seriously, I haven’t used a non braid in many years and prefer to spool this new reel with a co-polymer but not ruling out a flro. Would a fluro be a better option for a jig setup? Is there a downfall to using a co-polymer line, other than stretch?

Guess I better search “lines”

@Motoboss If you are using Yo Zuri Hybrid CO Polymer line there isnt much stretch, i use it for bottom fishing and it does great, but Fluoro would be the better choice for jig fishing if you think its worth 2-3x the price.

Spent the morning in Chattanooga. Went to Sorry Custom and grabbed a couple chatterbaits to try and a few open pour 8” swimbaits. While in the area, I went to hog farmer and stocked up on spunk shads…

After telling myself I'd take it easy on tackle for a while I ended up getting a couple packs of  Geecrack Bellows Gill Swimmers since the bass in my local pond seemed to be eyeballing the bluegill like crazy today. Hopefully they are worth the price...

New SLX 70A. The handle is shorter than the Curado 70's, which I wasn't expecting. Here's a side-by-side comparison in case anyone was wondering about it's size.

It is the new version, but there are some upgrades. I didn't have the previous version, but there are a handful of upgrades/differences. This video can explain better than I can.

You're out of control.

Last year when you vowed to stop buying gear and said you were gonna start downsizing, you were the beacon of light that all of us other whacko's were to look to for guidance and hope. Instead, it seems like somebody got you wet or fed you after midnight (the younger peeps may not get this), and you've morphed into something that would even make the bait monkey cower in the corner of the room, knees shaking uncontrollably

The SLX MGL was the runaway star of the SLX line in my opinion, the upgraded MGL III spool and silent tune with no price increase make it a no brainer and a tough one to beat at its price point.

Glad you said it - given your shed, I think you'll not give up until you need a bigger shed...and that'll only slow you down.

I can’t argue any of that one little bit unfortunately, I am getting a lot more picky on my gear. Although the war rages on, I have not bought a swim bait reel yet. There will be one in the future but not yet. My youngest is nuts about fishing just like me, I think that I would be lying if I said that I was not a little bit ashamed of him being into fishing like me. Although there’s worse things that I could be doing, but hey maybe that’s my delusion speaking lol.

There's nothing better than fishing, so I'd say you're doing a fantastic job if he prefers that over being inside on an iPad all day.

No shame in that. I'll be proud if my little guy grows up to love fishing as much as myself. You're raising the next generation right in at least one aspect. Kudos!

I happened to carpool with my wife to work this morning and she noticed a fisherman garage sale sign. After work we headed over there. It was the second day of the sale, but I got a good deal. Unfortunately the guy passed and his wife was selling off his stuff. Like a lot of us it sounded like he to loved to make tackle, especially jigs, and fish. There was a bunch of protec paint, the huge bottles there too. All the jigs were 12$ total and a buck for the rattles. The jigs were priced at a buck an ounce. Hoping to catch a lot of bass on them!
