I bought these on ebay.  I've had a lot of trouble finding the specific black spinnerbait I like to use, so I figured these might be worth a try.  They have overly large blades, so I expect there to be a lot of thump.

3 packs super flukes

sungill

watermelon slice

bait fish

1 pack the fluke watermelon moondust

1 pack owner haymaker 2/0 hooks

I wanted 3/0 hooks but they just got these in and only had 1/0 or 2/0. So with my trusty eye I gauged the depth of hook to plastic and went for it. I rigged one up in the parking lot and checked out how much clearance I would have, definitely enough clearance to compress and get the hook through. Although I would like the hook to be maybe a quarter of a inch further back. I will have to learn from experience and not guessing now, although I don’t need any excuses to buy any owner hooks in my book it’s a given lol.

Coastal I ordered off Amazon came today. About 10 days sooner than scheduled which I was happy with. But this is how it came. IN a clear bag inside a brown paper bag. That's it! No box. No protection. Unbelievable. I haven't even opened the bag yet to inspect it.

I couldn't believe it. When I grabbed the brown bag I could tell there wasn't a box in there. I was trying to figure out if I ordered something else that I obviously must've forgotten about. Then I opened the bag and could only laugh. ?‍♂️

Northern's issue is rare - I've purchased 3 reels from Amazon, and my wife ordered the one I got for Yule from Amazon as well. All four came new in original boxes.

Trying ordering a rod from Amazon, 2 of 3 in rod tubes and 1 in 2 boxes made to fit a rod, I was surprised it made the journey with the guides intact.

Only time I've ordered rods from Amazon - they were sold/fulfilled by an outside vendor - Evike.com, and they ship in tubes.

I hate these "why me" moments. At least they're friction free when it comes to returns.

My brother went down this road. So many destroyed rods came, but they'll keep sending them until it's made right. Lunacy.

You don't think I have reason to be irritated by getting a "new" reel shipped to me without it's box?

I absolutely do think you should be. I've had these "you've gotta be chitting me" moments myself, and I hate them.

Oh gotcha. I thought you were saying you hate when people complain about these 'why me' moments. ? It sucks but I'll likely send it back. It looks new (without looking internally) but it's not smooth at all. Then again it could just be bone dry.

Hmm. Even when they're dry there's usually at least a light film of grease on the gears. If it's rough feeling now, just send that beatch back. You're still in the freezer, so it's not so bad to wait for its replacement.

I've always had this thing for topwater lures that still make action at rest.  When I was 19, caught my first big bass, 6-1/2 lbs, on a yellow Jitterbug in a long rest.  Suckered her out to the middle of a bowl-shaped cove, 50+' visibility, using more pause than retrieve.

These are Japan wood plugs, not exactly latest purchases, but assembled over 6 mo or so, when I was buying other things in Japan.

t4rhc1h.jpg

Clockwise, GaullaCraft Baby Shake Hip (basic squarebill) 7/16 oz; Ninna Mofri, which blows me away for sit-still action; Less is More Lim's Morphie; Life Bait Flap Frog.  The big plugs are all about 21-23 g (up to 3/4 oz).

I will fish these, maybe not hard, certainly for effect and fun.

BTW, if you go way back, topwater dog-walking plugs were the very first lures fished for bass in America.

The term dog-walking was coined by Paw-Paw Lure Co. in 1918.

In his 1881 tome, Book of the Black Bass, Doc Henshall called dog-walking "The Bob", and described then that Florida bass fishermen had already been using them for 100 years.

8'3" - Doc also takes credit for designing the first bass rod under 12'

Came in original Daiwa box in a bubble mailer.

Latest ebay winnings. Originally I was looking at purchasing a diawa tatula or BG spinning reel.  How ever, I found these 2  quantum accurist s3 AT25SPT’s from my fav eBay vendor for a winning bid of $80 shipped for the both.  These are $90-100 a piece reels.

im a big quantum fan.  I’ve got a quantum accurist spinning reel from 12 yrs ago still going strong.  I’ve also got a accurist bait caster with the flipping switch ( bargain for a $100 bait caster).  The accurist line dosent get the attention it deserves.
