The couch is softer than I remember but better than the dog house. I think if I empty the dishwasher a few more times, I'll be in the clear. ? I took the Dobyn's out today. I left the NRX's at home. I know what to expect from them. The Dobyn's was awesome. It's listed as a Medium but it's pretty close to a MH. Overall, I am really impressed with it. The tip is soft but the rest is pretty stiff. I think this will be my new "best bang for the buck" rod. We will see. 2 Quote
Aaron_H Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Made a promise to throw the spinnerbait more this year. Finally got the last Bass Pro giftcard FWC owed me for TrophyCatch and threw a handful of spinnerbaits in the cart. They sent me the wrong size Berkley, so they shipped out the correct one and let me keep the smaller one. Threw in a couple of the Halloween color Shadow Rap Shads since they were out of stock last couple of times I did a jerkbait order, and then also picked up some H2OX stickbaits in watermelon/red to try out. They're made by Big Bite Baits, which have a little different fall rate/action than I prefer so I don't anticipate them replacing my BPS Stik-Os, but still a solid offering. Have a few things on the way from TW that should hopefully be here this week, too. 9 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted February 27, 2023 Super User Posted February 27, 2023 The Japanese monkey ensures my money never goes very far.....why do I have to have such an affinity for JDM stuff. 40 bones never looked so small lol. Being a huge fan of Fluoro, my addiction has led me to buy ever more costly types. This and Invisx are the most expensive to date. The Invisx is most certainly worth the cost for spinning reels. I was looking at Tatsu for $49 and Shooter for $38...not sure I'll ever be able to buy those. That's ridiculous money for 165-200yds of line. 8 1 Quote

One thing I'll recommend is by the bigger spools (600 - 1000yrds). I use both Tatsu and Samurai. Invisx is next in line. I've tried a bunch too. but those three make the grade as far as I am concerned. To conserve that pricey Fluoro fill you reel about 1/3 - 1/2 way with a cheap mono. I use Berkley 14#XL. Then top it off with the Fluoro of your choice. You can double you re-spools or better. Regards, Fishingmickey DM 1 1 Quote

I'm working my way to owning mostly JDM versions of Daiwa reels, and this line was bought for a Zillion SV TW which holds 90m of 14lb and 80m of 16lb. Hoping to get two good refills with 165yds. Won't ever make the mistake of buying a 165yd spool of 8lb InvisX and not put backing on a 3000 sized reel.....lol, now I got about 35-40yds of leader material. I'm not cheap as I believe in the buy once cry once model, but having only started back in late July of last year after a 10yr+ break, I had so many holes that needed to be filled from baits, to new reels, to TMs, and Sonar. Hopefully one day I'm in a position to buy high end stuff in bulk. Really I'm betraying P-Line if I'm honest, for heavier applications, P-Line's Ultimate Fluorocarbon has been perfect in every single manner. The only thing that got me looking at Shooter/Sniper/Tatsu was the line diameter per lb test. The P Line is thick stuff, punches way above it's weight class but ties up more capacity, and I think reduces some distance on casts. Again though it's like diamond rope lol. Used most of the Seaguar stuff sans Tatsu and AbrasX, and I like it all, however I don't trust it completely. If I kink the Red Label, might as well cut it, and with the InvisX, the abrasion resistance is not fantastic. That InvisX is just so supple and strong given it's not abraded. 1 Quote

After using Abraszx flouro for many years, I recently bought some sunline super Fc sniper to put on my crankbait rod. I like the super fc sniper more than abraszx. By the way, awesome rerange 110. What color is it? 1 Quote

Couldn't remember which colors Matt Allen recommended and this one reminded me of GG Threadfin by MegaBass. 1 Quote

Yeah 1's and 2's are my favs. This particular seller has killer LC auctions but they get you on the shipping so buying multiples helps get the price down. Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted February 28, 2023 Super User Posted February 28, 2023 I was looking at some of my original BDS3s and then realized that a 6th Sense Crush100x was to the naked eye at least essentially the same bait. You guys ever notice this. Catfish stole a BDS3 in the fall, been looking for that bait ever since ? Quote

Yeah...I'm assuming you are talking about simmons. I hit numerous auctions last winter and now have a thin 3700 for each (1's/2's). 1 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted February 28, 2023 Super User Posted February 28, 2023 Surely that couldn't be Simmons Sporting Goods in Alabama. Wouldn't doubt it though, they have killer stuff. 1 Quote

Super User bulldog1935 Posted February 28, 2023 Super User Posted February 28, 2023 ya gotta have a place to put all this stuff... I've been buying Meiho lure boxes with just about every Japan order, because they're astounding space-efficient. These two are the same 1200NS box, only 1" thick, and arranged for different lure types. But I ran out of places to stack these, and began looking at Meiho tackle boxes. Here is my VS7080 box arranged for last week's coast trip. The white bottles in one side tray are the Procure flavors, the front tray are the packaged titanium leaders. Two rod holders on the end. Inside, the overflow box for used plastic bodies and the keeper box for used titanium leaders. There are places all over the box to grab the top trays (keep tools, etc), and stable enough, you can stack more lure boxes on them. Below that, the bottom space exactly fits Meiho 800 boxes in the narrow direction, and 1200 boxes in the long direction. The three thin boxes are lure boxes, the max-thick 1200NDDM boxes are packaged plastic and other terminal for this trip. My buddy Stevo called it the Swiss Army Tackle Box. Easy to change up for different trips. They make plenty of other add-ons, including baskets for spinnerbaits. I bought this size because it exactly fits in the sternwell of my small 10' river kayak. Also discovered I had picked up some 30X0 lure boxes along the way that don't fit as efficiently in this box, so my newest Japan order will be a Bucket Mouth 5000 for stashing the rest of my Meiho boxes. Meiho has a US importer with a website, but good Japan shopping can find these for 40% of the US price. $20 for the base box above, lure boxes are $4 to $7 in Japan, the rod holders $15, the small outside boxes $5. 14 Quote
Friggs Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 I had to go to Walmart to get some stuff so I can make what I wanted for dinner. And of course, a few fishing items found their way into my handbasket. Nothing really exciting. My Walmart doesn't carry anything exciting. At least my local doesn't. I was messing around with my chatterbaits the other night and realized I only have one with any green pumpkin. So I picked up a green pumpkin/ purple. and a green pumpkin. And I picked up a pack of Strike King Rage Swimmer 3.75 for trailers for them. Now I think I am ready for the season to get going. Come on warm weather. 3 Quote

Functional Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 Seibert strikes again. I've never owned so many lures of one type and hardly catch fish. Going to dedicate 2 days and only keep Jigs on deck. Very excited to try this daiwa tatula SV. Been wanting to give skipping a real try and this seems like the ticket. Already completely exploded 2 reels trying. 9 Quote
