YakOrBank Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 So if the wife sees this. I only bought two rods this year but for the boys on BR, aside from tons of soft plastics. Upgraded bass mafia boxes. And a deeper pro + for the yak. I’ve added 3 rods/reels this year. 6’8 St croix mojo mxf paired with a reel I bought late last year. Shimano slx 70 mgl. 7’ HF St croix premier with a curado Dc 7’1 MF St croix bass x with a slx Dc 7’ mf abu Garcia MLF spinning combo just for wacky rigs at the local pond. (4/10) wouldn’t recommend to someone who only could get one setup this year. It is decent for what I’m asking it to do, it’s just a bit sluggish. 2 Quote
Mbirdsley Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 So I wanted to start throwing more herb baits in the titabawassee. Only issue is it’s only a foot visibility with a ton of snags. The only colors that show up well are ones that flash, chartreuse, and black. husky jerks fit this bill. Also while at cabelas I bought another 2.5 square bill. More blue and black tubes and rage menaces 8 Quote
Mbirdsley Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 Continuing the expensive crank theme. Mega bass deep 300 3/4 blue gill mega bass deep 100 another 300 coming in the mail. hoping the brown bass like these 3/4’s mega bass cranks in The fall 7 Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted July 4, 2022 Super User Posted July 4, 2022 I'm generally a Shimano guy, but I needed to add a powerful 200-sized reel to the collection and couldn't pass up the deal with the current (very favorable!) Japanese exchange rate. Took the Zillion out for the first time over the weekend and I was definitely impressed. Also couldn't pass up the significantly discounted Deps with the exchange rate. Last thing... my first ever order from Japan and it got to my door in 3 days! 14 Quote

Super User LrgmouthShad Posted July 7, 2022 Super User Posted July 7, 2022 I made a rod and reel purchase and didn’t immediately tell you guys… hope you can forgive me. A St Croix Triumph 6’6” medium spinning with a Shimano Sedona. Really like it. Never actually owned a nice spinning combo before. 9 Quote

There is nothing I found yet that is as strong as these. It's like death rolled in garlic. The best thing in the bunch is oddly the sinkers that look like drop shot weights but they are actually for the free rig. They have an insert at the top rather than traditional wire or round tie. 1 Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted July 10, 2022 Super User Posted July 10, 2022 Picked up the 3700 Plano Edge box on sale to carry terminal tackle for vacation last night. Today we went to a store run by a group that does estate sales and picked up a lowrance Fish Lo-K-Tor. Probably overpaid at 12 bucks but it is a cool man cave and future lake house piece. 14 Quote
Dangerfield Posted July 10, 2022 Posted July 10, 2022 Geecrack Gills are awesome, caught a fat smallmouth using it as a trailer on a swimjig. Great action, I've had success on the swinginghead too. My journey to hoard/collect all thing's GG Perch, I present: Vision OneTen+1 Jr, FlapSlap & X-Wave. Apparently there's a distinct retrieve for the FlapSlap, I spent the afternoon with it, and still haven't figured it out. 7 Quote

Super User fishballer06 Posted July 11, 2022 Super User Posted July 11, 2022 Local tackle store got a shipment in of the new Sleeper Gills. Couldn't resists grabbing a half dozen of them to test out. Cant wait to see how these do. 3 Quote
Super User PhishLI Posted July 11, 2022 Super User Posted July 11, 2022 Had some DSG gift cards, so I got some stuff. New chest waders, etc. I'm finally feeling the Ned rig since picking up some weedless ewg ned bullet head hooks. I can actually get these through the forest of weeds I fish in which is impossible with shroom heads. After just a handful of dinks, I'm already fantasizing about chasing down one of @Team9nine's intergalactic Ned rig records.? The Googan Neds with rattles look interesting, and I've been doing well with Zman coppertruese TRDs, so more is better. 9 1 Quote

Have you tried the grandebass rattlesnake? If so, I'd like to know how it compares to the bellows stick. With this exchange rate, there's no slowing down on the jdm purchases for me ? 2 Quote

I think in my neck of the woods, the fish like taste of Geecrack baits. I have lost fish bringing them in, only to have them come back and hit the same bait again on the same cast. 2 Quote

Looks good for drop shot. A tip for the Bellows Gill..... I have been killing it on this bait his year. I have used the 2.8 as a jig trailer (jigs with a medium sized hook) and when you cast this bait sort of lob it under hand. When it hits the water, it will sound like a fish jumping. I can't explain it but when you hear it, you will know and so will the fish. They will hit as soon as it hits the water. One other thing, they almost float without a weight, which isn't a bad thing. They take forever to get down to the bottom of 10-15 feet of water. I have very slowly reeled them in and have also fished them like a spoon or a jig. All have worked great. 4 Quote
Cbump Posted July 12, 2022 Posted July 12, 2022 That’s awesome. I was a little bummed that’s there’s only 3 big ones in the package. So hopefully they last. Quote

So hopefully they last. I saw that the first time I purchased them. There is video somewhere that shows the size differences. The 5.8 is huge. Getting only 3 makes them pricey. I did catch 5 fish on a 3.8 last weekend. Fished it for about 3 hours and it's still usable. If the smell goes down, I just rub it around in the bag. The 3.8 has been my go to size though. Dark Matter has been my favorite color so far but I have caught fish on all the colors I have tried. Quote
