A little bit of everything.   Jigs, soft plastic and maybe topwater.

Cool, no doubt you’ll enjoy it.

Picked up a very gently used Conquest 842S off another forum and bought my first Shimano reel to go on it a Vanford 3000 20211014_201307.thumb.jpg.cc5563c5a4fac213d4d202dbc130f981.jpg

It does feel great very light and I love the way the drag sounds.  Every other reel I have is Pflueger so this reel might be my entry point to another brand.

I’ve put together a few combos this year, the latest being a Dobyn’s Fury FR 705CB MH/mod-fast paired with a Curado 151DC for crankbaits and lipless cranks. (I’ve been throwing jerkbaits on spinning gear but might give ‘em a try on this setup too).  I spooled up with some Suffix Advance 10# that seems to work well.  I only got out with this one day, but hoping for more before our Canadian water gets hard on top.

Noticed an ebay coupon for 10% off wood bait country products.  I had been wanting to order some of Tim Earick's buck creek crankbaits, so I indulged.  Just couldn't  weed any out of my cart.  These are an even mix of dinky donkets, money maker 1's and 2's.

Tim claims to test every bait, and he signs them.

I was pushed.  It's not my fault.... at least that's what I keep telling myself.

A new Met is coming tomorrow .

So far it feels great but setting it up to cast well has been frustrating.

I find they cast best without too strong of a cast. They cast most consistently with moderate power, and a smooth even motion.

So they did actually confirm you are the official record holder then?  I noticed you changed it from "unofficial" to "official" at the bottom of your post.

That is awesome @Team9nine.  Too bad the holey jeans had to make in there though!

You’d be surprised by how much flack I catch from friends about the jeans ? Really surprises me. A couple guys even threatened to start a Go Fund Me page last week to try and get me a new pair. It’s all so confusing, as two of my young nieces stopped by to visit over the weekend and their jeans were torn with holes, too - and they paid good money to buy them that way - LMAO. Here I just thought I was being fashionable and “hip” ?

Brian - you and I are both too old to be 'hip'. My torn jeans/cargo pants are relegated to workshop wear only.

Ha...gave my dad crap about his torn jeans a while back. He just turned 66 in June and said something along the lines of wanting to be hip and wear what the cool kids wear. I said your alot closer to needing a new hip than you are to being hip.

Why am I laughing at that? Next month I'm 62...so not that far behind him.

Don't know why they would be giving you a hard time, kids these days are buying them like that for hundreds of dollars!  You just paid less for the same style!

this is cheating in a tide pass

RpeLGAo.jpg

Duo Spearhead Quattro Ryuki 70 (mm)

Swapped the size 8 trebles with #7 Gami velcro.

Too big to be a glass minnow, but can't imagine any lure that imitates the bait ball better.

First hard baits I’ve bought in a couple months. Picked these 2 up from Vandam ware house In Kalamazoo mi. Ordered and had them in 2 days.  Perch color ( actually named sugar daddy, should be called perch though ) and a new pro black color.  The suger daddy is going to replace the other perch I lost last Sunday.  Tomorrow is payday so I’ll probably order either lucky strike or  mega bass jerk baits.

I've found that my Met's are much better behaved with all four brakes engaged. Dunno if the JDM models are any different other then price. Still silky smooth with all four on and not any noticeable difference in casting distance and a big difference in bird nest size and quantity.

For what it's worth, my Curado 70 MGL is exactly the same: all four or bird nest city.

Only reel I own where I have more than two of the four brakes engaged.

I almost pulled the trigger on one of these or a new Zillion but instead I picked up a Met.  It is one of the coolest looking reels Daiwa has ever made.  I would definitely want to hear how it worked out.  Enjoy.
