Nice.  Have to ask.... What do you use the split rings for?

Do not like regular round split rings at the line tie for any bait.

Hate when the line gets caught in the "split".

Usually go with oval rings on everything but lately I've been liking these

pear shaped rings at the line tie of my topwater Treble hooked baits.

Especially 'The Walking Baits'.

One of the first things I do when I get a hardbait that has a split-ring at the tie-on point is change out the rings. Cranks get oval, jerks/topwaters get the pear-shaped.

Well, I suppose it's better than chewing your fingernails.

Walked right into that one.

Well Played Sir.

Do you ever use clips for jerkbaits/cranks or just the oval rings?

Ever use clips for either of them?

I have clips but RARELY use them.

Prefer instead to retie; which after a few fish, I often do - just because.

Allows me to have 'knot confidence'.

Otherwise with the clip, I might fish the same knot on a rig all day without ever checking it,

until it's too late.

YMMV

I like Duo-Loc clips, and I'd say somewhere between 2/3 and 3/4 of my baits have them on them already.  I usually remove the split rings when I open the package.  I don't like leaving my knot for more than a fish or two.

Nope - direct tie to the split-rings...same reasons that A-Jay stated.

I like to do small pick ups like that over the winter. Load up the grandson and just take the ride to bass pro to get out of the house. We walk around the store. He throws stuff in the cart, I put some back. Lol. We grab a few things and talk fishing all the way home. It’s a fun afternoon, and it’s cool to see him get excited over something fishing related.

I decided I want to try some soft plastics from some of the smaller bait makers this year to see what they may be able to come up with. I saw these flat worms from Next level baits, and couldn’t help but order some to try them out. I got a single pack of the red shad, and a bunch of packs of the perch color. I think this perch color may be a winner for my drop shot fishing in my local lake.

The bait monkey got my 10 year old! He’s been selling off his toys (the wife has been emotional about that one) and been buying football cards and now fishing lures. Here’s his haul he received yesterday.

Haha he found them on his own. He’s learned a lot from the fishing videos. He’s phasing out of the Googan videos and watching Jacob Wheeler, Dustin Connell, and Mark Daniels videos more so I’m encouraging that move. ?

Those three are definitely not bad ones to follow to learn a thing or two!

Grandpa, dad, and I took a ride up to the gigantic North Woods outdoors  in Pinconing  Mi today.  Mainly headed up there to buy some walleye gear as grandpa and dad will fish with me than.  Any how dropped about $350 up there and still couldn’t resist some bass gear.

Picked up 10 packs of gamagatsu 4/0 off set shank worm hooks for $1.00 a piece, 1 pack of #2  gama finesse wacky hooks, Berkley power swimmers 3.3 inch Ayu color( on sale $2.99 ) Berkley HD true color the champ swimmer in yellow perch, 2 Berkley fritt side 9’s in rubber tail and brown craw, 2 packs of mustard KVD #6 hooks, kvd size #1, hurricane swivels ( Carolina rigging), a klaxon horn for those oh crap moments on the big lake and finally 2 Plano hydro flint hanging lure boxes.  I bought those for storing cranks hopefully they won’t get as eat up in these boxes rather than laying on their sides.  Fish can beat my cranks up and I’m fine but, I don’t like when I do it.   Could do a lot more but, it’s all walleye stuff.

Beyond excited! Talk about a score. I was able to use a 20% off coupon that I found online  at Dicks Sporting Goods. Saved over $900. Plus they have $400 in rebates right now too. Insane! ?????? Can’t wait to get on the water!

Now that the boats done it’s time to get ready for the up coming season. I’m hoping next week end is my first trip.  So it’s time to duckies on buying tackle and getting new line spooked up

made a swim jig/ chatter bait trailer order

3 bags of 4.2 inch big bite baits kamikaze in black blue flake, Pearl, and green pumpkin chartreuse swirl ( summer craw).  Also, 2 packs of razor Shad which, I’ve been wanting to try for a while. 1 pack in black and blue flake and another in Houdini.  I’ve only had so so luck with paddle tails as trailers

put all of my cranks and square bills in my new Plano boxes.  All of the square bills for plus room for 4 lipless cranks.  I had to leave 4-5 of my summer cranks out of the crank so I could make room for stuff that I’d use in cold water.  Shad raps are still in a flat Plano box

Back when I was looking for Ned heads I was told to check out eBay. Found Jade’s Jigs and was impressed enough with the Christmas haul to check out their website. Got these for 28 shipped and the kicker is they are lead free. If these work as good as I think they will, may try a bulk order later this year and see if will get a better price. Even if I don’t the price is good enough for me.

I love your idea of using a ventilated spinnerbait style box to hang those crankbaits. May have to steal your idea and try it with one. I’ve been drilling holes in the 3600 and 3700 boxes for a long time. I don’t have rusting problems and don’t ever remember having them. I drilled my holes on the sides around the perimeter of the box. If it starts to rain while I’m out and don’t put it back in the storage compartment the 3700 lid will shed the rain. But this doesn’t happen very often. Your carry handle is nice and the look perfect for jerkbaits. Good luck.
