So will I need to install one, two, or all now, or just wait and see how it's retrieving first before installing any of them?

I have been fishing Shimano reels for a couple of decades and have NEVER installed one.

I agree with roadwarrior. Either you won't need to install any of them, or you will. If you do need to, it's easy and doesn't take but a minute.

Easier to just not worry about it until you know.

I love this advice.

When I first broke into commercial construction I got paired up with an older guy who was a couple of years away from retirement. His advice to problems was to "just ignore the problem until it goes away". ? ... I had a feeling right then I wouldn't learn much from him...?

EDIT: BTW @galyonj, I'm not making fun of you, I know exactly where you were going with this. ?

Picked up 2 300 yard spools of 10 lb Fireline that will spool up 10 reels for me so like A 5-10 year supply since the stuff lasts forever. Also a Dual Hardcore Flat SP that I will compare to the Yu-Zuri version to see if they are the same. I do like Ayu colored baits so hoping this one will be a winner.

I had some Trapper Tackle trebles in my cart but couldn’t get myself to buy them and got the jerk instead. Also put the Zippo hand warmer picked up over the weekend to help me keep dexterity in my fingers when fishing in cold weather.

No worries, I totally got what you were saying.

This is a lesson I'm continually trying to learn: There are problems worth looking for, and there are problems that aren't. And it behooves one to understand the difference.

This? This isn't a problem worth looking for. He'll know whether it's even a problem the first time he reels in a decent-length cast. Until then, it's just taking up space in his mind that it doesn't deserve.

The fallout probably wouldn't be so bad if I didn't just get 3 of the Lew's KVD reels... And of course some Dobyns rods to attach them to.

My winter/Christmas additions. Some more line still incoming, and some unskirted Siebert jigs/fogy not shown.

That’s a nice color pattern on that firetiger/perch crankbait. Good luck with that. Good luck with everything really but cb caught my eye.

My Black Friday order finally arrived (and only 50+ days later!). Apparently they were completely overwhelmed with parcels that had to be cleared by customs, partly because - y'know - 2020, but also because they decided it was the best time to switch representatives from an old Portuguese company to TNT, which is actually owned by FedEx. Usually I can get my stuff from TW within 2-3 days from their warehouse to my door here in Portugal.

Anyway... Here it is.

It just got here. I barely had enough time to lay everything out on the desk like it was a drug bust made by local police.

Look on the bright side, my friend - at least you got it.

Nice little selection there - hope the bass your side of The Pond appreciate them. ;)

Over the last week or two, the Balsa Monkey has set up shop right next to me on the couch.

Three Black Label Hicksters already came in, and I ordered 4 more Wreck squarebills today.

@iabass8 - how does this work?  Should I just send the bill to you, or what?   ?

I've spent more on tackle this winter already then I care to mention. My girlfriend tells me I'm finished...but the bait monkey just whispered in my ear we've only just begun.

@Spankey 6th sense Mudgill. Plan on giving it a workout this year to see if it can be my new river squarebill.

Good luck with that. I like the looks of it. Was thinking the same thing for river Smallies. A lot gets posted here, not much catches my attention. But that certainly did.

Would you know off the top of your head whether or not that pattern is available in a 6’, 8’ or 10’ diver type?

I’m right there with you friend! I did receive about $300 from family for my birthday yesterday and I promptly made a “resupply trip” to tacklewarehouse.com. Every brick and mortar store within 50 miles of me is sold out of everything that I needed. I ended up paying only $25ish dollars out of pocket for it all after my bday funds were adjusted to my account.

-I picked up three or four packs of single tail grubs(various colors from various companies)

-Zoom super flukes in various colors

-Zoom craws in various colors

-Couple packs of 6th Sense creatures(can’t remember name of hand)

-Several jig heads with under spinners

-Several 6th sense crank baits at all depths

-Several swim jigs

I bought 26 items in total to include an Abu Garcia Vendetta 7’ MH rod for a new reel I got for my anniversary as well.

I stole that .gif too btw lol

I keep a list on side of the fridge of stuff I need to replenish or a color pattern that falls in between or slight variant of productive colors patterns I’m using.

Didn’t jump on the TW bandwagon at the holidays. Most of what I wanted to get was out of stock and no back order.

List is not very long. Would like to find some McCoy and SunLine SuperMono in bulk spools, 1500-1700 yd. range or more. Only getting it at 600 yd. spools now.

I’m always helping someone do something they can’t handle, never take any money for the work because I don’t feel comfortable doing it. Did sort of beat around the bush and  have the word out for a gift certificate/card to places like TW, Cabela’s, BPS, DICK’S. Did score pretty decently at holidays, $100 TW, $50 Cabela’s and one gal hooked me up with some Googan Baits. You can sort of tell that a dude from DICK’S helped her out. Nice stuff but I’m not much of a Googan guy. Can get store credit I guess, give them to my grandsons or just fish some of them. The jerkbaits and top waters looked half decent. Word on the street is soft plastics don’t hold up well.

Between now and the end of February I’ll have a completed short list. Just really need spring to arrive.
