galyonj Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 Gotta take your word for that one. I know there are musky here in the valley, but I'm not sure what, if any, species of pickerel we've got down here. And, honestly, I'd just as soon ski whatever I hook back so I can get it off the hook and back in the water instead of messing around with it. Figure I'm already stabbing it in the face, so there's no sense in stressing it further. Plus it's funny. 2 Quote

galyonj Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 Okay so two things: I love @Siebert Outdoors dredge jigs and don't ever want to throw anything else. ❤️ you bro. I don't even want to think about how much less power the bait monkey would have over me if I could just STOP THROWING LURES INTO PLACES THAT I CAN'T GET THEM BACK FROM. Seriously need to stop doing that. 4 1 Quote

That was the first order I made with him. Realized that I never really throw anything but junebug or black/blue, so that's what I keep ordering because…that's what I keep losing. lol 2 Quote

Ogandrews Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 Well decided I needed another pike/small musky bait/swimbait setup so I sold one of mine and ordered a g loomis e6x 965 with a tranx 300 hg, 80lbs maxcuatro, 30 and 40lbs sunline fc100 and a handful of other things I needed. Pretty ticked I forgot to order more 10/0 owner beast hooks and 3/4 oz swim jigs but I guess that gives me a reason to make another order. Cut the total out because I really don’t like reminding myself how much I spend on fishing stuff. 5 Quote
Smells like fish Posted June 24, 2020 Posted June 24, 2020 Jackall Pompadour, I bought it today as it has an exact match to the Little/Allen frog color. Hooks are not sticky sharp. Disappointed in that I pay $21.50 and hooks not sticky. But that extra bright chartruese belly may make it worthwhile! whats everyone's opinion on the hooks? Do you change and add split ring on rear @Bluebasser86 ? Thanks. 7 Quote

It’s good to invest in a good hook sharpener too. Coming from a musky background I’m used to sharpening the hooks after pretty much every time I bump against some cover, no idea why most bass guys don’t carry one with them. 2 Quote

Super User Log Catcher Posted June 24, 2020 Super User Posted June 24, 2020 Stopped by the local tackle shop yesterday. Got two packs of the new mid size Brush Hogs and a RK Crawler in a new pink caddi color. The guy said when they got the RK Crawlers in they sold out in 25 minutes. All but ten of them were already sold in the shipment they got yesterday. Hope to get to try them out tomorrow. I tried to post pics but my computer is not cooperating. 1 Quote

But I'd put dogfish (bowfin) up there with the meanest son of a b's in the water. You catch one on a spinnerbait and it usually comes back looking like a coat hanger. Anyhoo, back to the baits. Decided I 'needed' a ghost bluegill (for clearer waters) to go along with my bright bluegill. 7 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted June 25, 2020 Super User Posted June 25, 2020 I ran into Vito Corleone at the tackle shop yesterday and rather than find a raccoon's head in my bed I came out with a Daiwa Tatula 7'1" ML and a Procyon 2500 CXH for 203.97 combined. I love those Sicilian guys! 9 Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted June 25, 2020 Super User Posted June 25, 2020 http:// Fathers Day gift arrived today. Lew’s Speed Spin SS20HS. Spooled it with some 8# line and paired it with my Powell Nuisance rod and caught over half a dozen Redbreast Sunfish in a short session. First impression is this reel reminds me of the old Pflueger President reel I own. Nice reel. Feels solid for a graphite reel. 8 Quote
Vilas15 Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 Courtesy of the St Croix customer appreciation day sale for my dad. Avid X 7'0" M/M crankbait rod (B stock, discontinued model). I should have gotten one for myself because this thing is sweet. 8 Quote

Use it for my bank fishing. Agree very solid for graphite. 3 Quote
NJBasstard Posted June 26, 2020 Posted June 26, 2020 Within the last 6 days I've picked up a new Dobyns Champion XP 702sf, a new Dobyns Fury 705cb, a new SLX MGL and a used Scorpion XT 1000 w/ box in mint condition. All came from different sources but after tax I still came in at under $500 for everything. Gonna take a break from buying for a while but man it's been a good week ? 4 Quote
Ogandrews Posted June 26, 2020 Posted June 26, 2020 This is a thing of beauty. Exactly the taper I was hoping for and super light for the power of the rod, can’t wait to stick some pike and musky on it. I really like a light tip on a swimbait rod and this has exactly the blank I was looking for. Another winner from Loomis. No need to talk about the tranx, best reel in the world for bigger baits and fish, no idea why somebody would get a lexa or Revo beast when you can get a tranx for the same price. 7 Quote
