I bet it wanders a good 6-8 inches side to side, it's nuts. Doesn't dive nearly as deep as it looks like it would, maybe 2' tops.

I got to have me a half-dozen or so. Ugh.

Gotta preface this by saying my son had a birthday yesterday.  He comes home tmw (spends weekends with his mom) went by Walmart to get groceries and my trip to fishing section.

Saw the lews hank parker spinning rods had yellow stickers on them- (I have no intrest in these rods, I have powells and OG tatulas, for mine)  but they were marked down to 5.00 bucks (shakey head model).....from 45.  So I bought 3 of them.  The also had their Shakesphere Excurrison 6'8 MH marked down from 30 to 5.00.   So i got 3 of those.

My son has a daiwa xt casting and 2 spinning rods... now he has 6 more rods.  On top of everything we already got him, hes gonna flip his lid.  I'm bot into cheap gear, but I don't think a 10 year old is gonna care.  If he can take care of these, we will see if he can get an upgrade next year.

Moral of this story, check your Walmart for those yellow stickers

Gonna have to buy him some reels now!

Oh yeah..steal for sure.. should serve him well.  He can use his Xt for bottom techniques.  I think the shakesphere will do great for moving techniques and top water for him.  The shakey head rods will prob do great do.

Went to the local shop and bought an A Jay special (scrounger heads and dream shot mags in his color ?) never thought I'd buy a dark sleeper but it happened. My monkey said I'm slacking after he sees Jim Sutters purchases.

A simple purchase but a big purchase. My last Pad Crasher (about 10 years old) was forced into retirement, I’m keeping that thing a lot of good memories with it over the years. Since retiring the old one I’ve tried others in my box, Lunker Hunt, scum frog (I do like it), but none compared to the Pad Crasher. I finally found one after going to three local stores. Nothing compares to the Pad Crasher at all. A little trim of the tails and she’s ready to go!

Picking up some stuff for fish with tiny mouths today…plus one or two things I wanted.

Though I'd love to see the bluegill that would tuck into a 4" Rage Bug. I bet it'd be the size of a Peterbilt steering wheel.

Actually that'd be terrifying. Bluegill are mean.

That's a chatterbait in that bluegills mouth. Nearly 2" diameter mouth. Genetic freaks in this pond. Even caught one similar sized on a WP 90 last summer. Couldn't get it in its mouth but it tried.

Looks like a hybrid gill from the aqua streaks on the gills. Their mouths are much larger than a regular gill.

Love it. I want massive bluegill/smallmouth hybrids just to see how mean a fish we can make.

That is 100% true.

A lot of the fish I hook into are like "Ugh. I guess you got me. Yay you. Let's get this over with, I got a thing later."

Not bluegill. They come up swinging every time.

If bluegills got to be 5-6 lbs, they'd be demons on a hook.

Nothing is meaner than a pickerel.

I used to fish for bluegill a lot as a kid because it is my dads favorite fish...he used ultralights and I would use a more stout rod.  I would reel the bluegill to the surface and plane it in like a surfboard.  He always hated I did that and said I was a spoil sport.
