kayaking_kev Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Got two Fate Blacks for $40 each shipped. Definitely not as good as most of my other rods but for the price I paid they were a great deal. I got the 7'1 MH/F and it weighs 5.0 oz., so not the lightest rods and not the best balance and I can spot out a few small imperfections in the a couple of the guide wraps, but overall for $40, I'm pretty happy with them, they seem like good all around rods, but this Medium Heavy is pretty much a medium. No way I would pay $100 or even $75 for these rods. 8 Quote
RichF Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Got the rest of my TW 25 Days sale order. Finally picked up a Coastal SV (coolest reel I've ever seen and pairs PERFECTLY with my H3). Also ordered a few things from Cabelas that should be coming soon. Figured I'd do my part to help stimulate the economy during the corona crisis. 10 Quote

I really wanted to try the 100 size platform but was skeptical of the regular Tat 100 due to the price, reviews, and quailty of the original Tat CT (figured the 100 would be like it). I also wanted the deeper spool and big handle. The color is the icing on the cake! Quote
walleyecrazy Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 The darn monkey got me again. I wasn’t happy with my top water setup so I decided to purchase a new one. Daiwa Tatula Elite paired with a Daiwa Tatula 100. I’ve found that I really like the actions on these Daiwa rods. I also picked up some more Z-man stuff with a reward that I had from Dick’s that was getting ready to expire. 11 Quote
Mbirdsley Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 I’ve actually been slowing down on tackle purchases. Except I did pick up 2 packs of banditi bugs. One in summer craw and the other in okeechobee blue , I guess that’s what that color is. everybody talks about googan either good or bad so decided to finally bite the bullet and see for my self. won 2 separate 2 packs of war eagle spinner baits on eBay. I won them for about retail however, nobody really sells them up here. eBay shipping is usually cheaper than buying them from a online store. The chartreuse/white is 3/4 and the black and gold blade is 3/8. I’m kinda gitty to try these out. They are very well made for a production lure. 6 Quote

I have been getting some awesome deals on different lures on e-bay, the only problem is that after a bunch of awesome deals I have spent a bunch of money. Lol I always get pumped for crankin’ in the spring so I tend to go overboard on buying new ones. So far I have picked up the following: River2Sea Biggie Smalls squarebill in a craw pattern-$7.69 A lot of 2 Strike king 4.0 squarebills for $10 One sexy Shad, one Bream A lot of 2 Lucky Craft Flat D-20s in One-Four-One pattern for $12.56 (Shipping-$6.95) Lucky Craft Lightening Pointer 110sp in MS American Shad $4.95 (Shipping-$2.00) A lot of 2 Lucky Craft Flat SR Squarebills White & Gray $9.55 (Shipping $4.95) A lot of 2 Lucky Craft Flat MR in Aurora Bass $14.20 (Shipping $6.95) I’m a sucker for the flat lucky craft cranks, they flat out catch fish and I paid more for the Aurora Bass ones than I wanted but they are extremely hard to find. I’ve gotta get this bait monkey off my back or I may need a 2nd job soon! Just saw this post after posting about the ones I just bought. Lol You will love those Flat Lucky Craft cranks. They are my favorites, hands down. I bought two of them Too off of eBay from a place in Alabama About a month ago . Your right there is barely any info on them. I only have 3 other flat sides square bills and these are my first lucky craft. So decided why not 1 Quote

RemyL Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 No pics since I'm at the office waiting on server patches, but I got a new spinning rod that is roughly on par with my lighter casting rod. Still need to pick out and buy a reel for it, but waiting on a sale for one of the options I've picked. The reason I went into the store was for panfish lures/tackle. I caught some blue gill last friday on hooks that were too big and my whole kit was basically too big for them. I got a few snelled hook packs in appropriate sizes, some little jigs, some "egg" type baits in suitable sizes... I caught them on some bigger ones meant for trout so I just downsized things. I also got some smaller/finer wire bass hooks for texas rigs and a few bags of plastics. Nothing crazy, but I didn't have green pumpkin in a couple things and I also want to try the plasma tail worms so I got two colors of those. With all the grass we seem to have around here I'm looking for all the really weedless options I can get and sleek and snag free is getting more attention than I had expected this winter. Still waiting on a couple items I've got my eye on plus the reel. Just waiting for them to come in stock at the right vendor or go on sale elsewhere. Quote
AdamT Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 A bunch of stuff lately, 2 Daiwa Legalis spinning reels and 2 Tatula rods to go with them. Several lures and other stuff but here’s what came in today. Plan to use this setup mainly for mid depth cranks and 5” swim baits, but maybe some bladed jigs/spinnerbaits. Spooled it up with some 12lb fluorocarbon for now. These 1/4oz finesse jigs from Brain Schmidt Baits. And a couple Ima finesse poppers. 6 Quote

I think that’s why they work so well. I also bought mine off of the guy in Alabama. I’d say you were the guy I was bidding against for those. Lol 2 Quote

I also won a 2 pack of lucky craft jerk baits about the same time I bought those square bills. I couldn’t even find those square bills on line at another store to even try to figure out what they were retailing for to figure out where my max bid was going to be Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted March 20, 2020 Super User Posted March 20, 2020 Since I live in one of the 7 Bay Area counties on mandatory Coronavirus shelter in place (which is now state wide), I figured it was a good time to upgrade some reels. These Carbontex drag washers just arrived in today’s snail mail for my 201HG’s. By the way, eBay was the trusted source if you might be interested in doing the same. *** I was surprised when I opened up my “I” series reel. The stock washers were Carbontex and the main was a little burned, but the aftermarket main washer has much more surface area... 6 Quote
Smells like fish Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 I am continuing my stay outta shops and order online tour... I just hit the buy it now (from probably a member here) on 2 Deps Buzzjet Jr's! Yes they are used but I have wanted to try these lures since I first saw one fished on YouTube. I'll have to dance with the smaller ones until I can get the full size. I feel like I need a cigarette and I don't even smoke???? Happy Monkey despite that d**n coroaner virus!!! Take care of your monkey, people! 2 Quote
RemyL Posted March 25, 2020 Posted March 25, 2020 Ordered a Sedona 3000 for the heavier spinning rod I got a week ago. I was going to get something nicer but decided that it just wasn't worth the extra money to me right now. Maybe next year I'll upgrade it. I also ordered some green pumpkin plastics in a few types. They've been in and out of stock and I finally caught most of what I wanted. I have been using the Strike King Half Shell's as trailers on chatterbaits but only had the bright color one so I ordered the Magic and Green Pumpkin Purple. I'm down to that kinda buy though, filling out core colors I hadn't been able to get, replacing what gets used... We'll see later this year when it's warmed up more, gotta catch more fish before I spend more moola. 2 Quote

I haven't done any other maintenance other than just a bit of oil last summer. I might tear it down and give it a scrub 1 Quote

Quarry Man Posted March 26, 2020 Posted March 26, 2020 Dobyns Champion XP 766Flip, Dobyns Sierra 702SF, & Daiwa Tatula Elite 100XSL all on the way! I am excited to finally try a Dobyns rod out. In other news, I picked up a mislabeled Falcon Jason Christie 7'3" H Pitchin' Jig rod at Walmart for 29$. Was a bit tip heavy with the reel I have on it, so I made a DIY butt balancer. 4 Quote
