I went to the Indy Boat, Sport and Travel Show today and came home with this thing.

thumbnail-3.thumb.jpeg.82bc292f861cd0600f98f83d005c142b.jpeg

At a couple of booths they had any NRX rod for $350 and the Conquest was $425.  I could have gone crazy but one is enough (for now).   They also had the Tatula Elite for $180.  I have to say, it feels exactly like the Steez.  I think it's going to be the next "it" reel.

I did see a guy there that bought 3 NRX's and 2 Conquests.  He said he would add them to the rest of his Loomis NRX and GLX collection> Must be nice.

Also, the guy that talked me into this rod was Ish Monroe.   I didn't recognize him without the Daiwa hat and shirt.  Great guy by the way.

Pretty sweet, I haven’t seen any booths like that at the few shows I’ve been to.

I bought two little Flambeau organizers. Instead of having my terminal tackle in a 3600 and all in one kit it would eventually overwhelm, I split it. Now it's broken down by use so if I'm setting up a particular rig it's all in one little box. I'm sure that eventually this will result in a ton of little boxes, but for now it works better and freed up an Edge 3600 for other stuff. I have room for one more little guy in the tackle bag without messing anything else up, so there's still some wiggle room if I add a technique that doesn't fit in the other two.

I've also managed to resist buying more lures and plastics. I've gotten tempted, but resisted. My goal is to resist until it warms up enough to actually do some fishing.

I can send you a pic when I get home from work to see if it’s the right thing. I changed the plug on mine to match the female receptacle that was already in the boat

Were they out of 893? That's the only rod left on my list. I got a custom xray 936 to sub for the 894 nrx. I didnt know they have prices like that. I'm in Fishers. I'll be there next year.

I believe so but the guy I bought mine from said he might be bringing more in sometime this week.  His booth was simply called "The Angler".  Nice group of guys there too.  They had a rep from St. Croix there as well.  Their St. Croix rods were 20% off the list price.  I almost picked up another Legend Glass rod but I couldn't pass up the NRX at that price.

There were 2 booths that were selling them at this price and one other that had them 15% off but I did not see any of 893's.  If they had one, I would have gotten that one instead.

I believe the guy that bought three at the booth were I bought mine, bought the last three NRX rods he had.  I think they were the 852, 873 or 916, and the 822 drop shot spinning rod.

If I had to do it again, I think I would have picked up the the 844C Conquest.  I love the 844C GLX I have.  Maybe next year.

Went to one of local chain outdoors stores. All I "needed" was the ardent cleaning kit and line conditioner. Came out with jigs, soft jerkbaits, tubes, grubs, some terminal tackle and a new spinning rod lol!..just some run of the mill "essentials".

Im so excited to the try new rod. Fenwick Elite Tech Walleye 7'2 M/F. Gonna use it for tubes and grubs 3/8oz and up, wacky rigs, jerkbaits too probably. It is marketed towards walleyes but I dont think that matters. Already have my Pflueger Supreme XT 30 rigged on it and I think it'll be deadly.

That 853 will be fine. I researched them for weeks before I assembled my list. If I was to wait a year, I would have picked up the 853 as well. It will make a perfect plastics rig rod for you. It sounds like we need to go day 1 to get what we want though. That's cool Ish was there. I love the AGS tatula elites. I have his flippin stick with AGS. I stole it for $99 on a misprint amazon deal with prime shopping lol. The AGS finesse is what the 893 will replace. It's a great rod in it's own right, but it's no NRX. At the moment it's my most sensitive rod but I havent put a reel on my new custom yet.

Those Fenwick Walleye rods are fantastic bass rods too. The 6’9” XF is a great dropshot and jerkbait rod, 6’6” F ML is a great all around rod, and the 6’3” EF light an excellent Ned rig rod. All light, sensitive, and well balanced.

If I didnt already have the 6'10 XF mojo bass, I'd definitely pick up fenwick's dropshot rod. Im a St Croix fanboy but I've always loved Fenwick too. I just have to admit the st croix series that are made in mexico (Eyecon, triumph, mojo bass) can't even compare to fenwick's models in the same class. The HMG and elite tech bass/walleye are much better balanced and feel much nicer in hand. Once we start talking about the premier, avids, LTB...st croix definitely outclasses Fenwick's offering. I got an amazing deal on a barely used casting Fenwick World Class 6'8 MH/XF. Didn't like it at all, wasnt sensitive like the croixs and it felt like a broomstick. I love my Avid X casting rod a lot more.

A pile of potential jigs.

Some actualized tungsten jigs for an annoyingly lead-free but productive lake near me.

After being bored all winter and watching a lot of you tube fishing how vids.  I couldn’t buy a fish On a crank untill the 2nd week in June.  So for winter and pre-spawn cranking I decided to invest in some shad raps. Luckily I also bought a bunch of flicker shads when I though I was getting into walleye fishing.  I was rummaging through my walleye and salmon stuff and re-found them.  New shad raps on left.  Re-found never fished flicker shad on right.

also been purchasing some worm binders to try and stay more organized on the water

Found a Micro Pompadour.  Picture shows it next to a Pompadour and Pompadour Jr for scale.  I am very excited to see how this thing fishes.  I think it will be killer for river smallmouth!

I’ve been eyeing those micros for a while but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I’ve had great luck with the jr., and think the micro might do even better.

******bait monkey warning******

For all of you square bill fans out there.   The baitmaker made me a batch of custom lures.    You can find him on the site.   The squarebills are amazing and he can paint any color/pattern you desire.    the squarebills flat out catch fish.   He also made me some 6inch perch and bluegill baits that I haven’t had a chance to fish as much as I’d like but they look amazing and run perfect.

I’m trying to add pics but having size issues

Alright. Two huge purchases this week, I'm done for a while. Cant wait to slay the bass come ice out. I'm most excited to use the Reins Bubbling Shaker and the triple underspin.

Who makes the triple underspin? I've used a double underspin with great success around here
