Amazon rod packaging is usually a horror show, based on what I've read. I think you're probably lucky it got there in one piece.

I've got one rod with Winn grips on it (a Lew's TP1 black), and I've had it out in mud, rain, sleet, all that. Never had to do more than wipe them down with a wet rag, then follow that up with a dry rag, and it's like nothing ever happened.

Hopefully that'll help assuage some of your concern.

That has been my experience with ordering rods from Amazon. I decided after my last experience that I will no longer be ordering rods from them. I ordered a Daiwa Tatula Elite with the AGS guides through them. It showed up in a long cardboard box that was all of about 2"x2" and had no protection whatsoever for the rod. I opened the box to find the rod in two pieces. It hurt my heart a little to see such a nice rod treated like that. I returned it and promptly ordered the same rod from tacklewarehouse knowing that they know how to properly ship a rod.

Wait until you catch one that's shorter than the worm.  Then your head will really spin!!

Got to go out Saturday to a small farm pond that has a creek running through it.  It's my only hope when everything else is ice.  Anyway, long story short I tore them up on a 5/16 oz War Eagle finesse spinnerbait and a Fat Albert.

Not sure what happened after that, but apparently I have an SLX XT and a Dobyns 703C on the way....?

That 5/16 War Eagle spinnerbait is freakin money. Nothing but success from that little spinnerbait. I buy one everytime I'm in Walmart just in case they stop making them ?

Yup, mine arrived the same way. Mine was a 4x4 box, luckily Canada Post babied it, it had 2 creases and the guides pierced through the plastic but no other damage.

I would buy a Dobyns again from Amazon, my last one came packed from Dobyns facility in Texas, in a hard card board tube, pvc capped, rod wrapped in plastic and 5 sections of bubble wrap. It was bulletproof. I've held on to it, just in case I need to ship a rod in the future.

I had them in and out of my cart for a while, then when my local gander closed they were 70% off and I snatched them up.  But, I agree and would gladly pay full price.  They're deadly.

Finally!

Will do.  I’m hoping to get a chance to use them in the next few weeks.

Yep, I usually order 2 of each color I get when I buy hard baits, I just couldn't do it this time. Hopefully I don't regret it.

I gave away a couple spinning reels and the bait monkey demanded I cull up with even better reels.

I also had to take part in the DD cranks like everyone here. I never throw cranks in winter and I'm curious to see how they do. Also needed some more DS hooks.

Bizz Baits is doing a custom color run right now called South African

Special (black with red, gold and purple flakes). I just ordered 5 packs of baits: 2 Baby Bizz Bugs and 3 Dizzy Diamonds.

Should be money!

I have that exact reel on a 7'1" OB2 MF and have been slinging 1/4oz jerkbaits for the past few weeks and loving it.

Got a TW order in full of mainly swimbaiting goodies. Still waiting on my Savage Gear Pulse Tail bluegill. Also ordered a Tatula LT 3000CXH, but they sent me a 3000DCXH ? So back it went to be exchanged for the right reel.

Some of the new Savage Gear Pulse Tail Shiners, a line thru Pulse Tail Shad, some FishLab Bio Minnows and a FishLab suspending 5" crappie glide. An Evergreen Flat Force 4 crank, and some 20lb Flame Green Smackdown that I'm going to put on my Ned rig reel as soon as I'm sure the icy mornings are done. Now I just have to work 14 days in a row before I get another day off to play with my new toys ?

Threw The BBB Shorty Head is a mag weedless ned head built on a 3/0 gammy hook. Looks great with a hula stickz and big TRD. The Bubble Gut pattern looks incredible, mimics a live worm very well. I'll post up some pics later tonight

That perch one is amazing! I need to get my hands on something like that. Most of the lakes that I fish are loaded with perch.

The big walters like glides and wakes around here. That one was done mostly for them.
