Getting ready to hit a local pond once the weather cooperates and I could not find my Ned Rig jig heads and plastics.

So I hit Green Top on February 28th and bought two colors of Ned Rig plastics and some weedless jig heads.

Cost of plastics is $1.00 a package less that BPS and the jig heads were less costly than what BPS has.

So that is my latest purchase.

My order came in. 5 Dobyns Fury rods. I was going to put Tatula CT reels on them, but I found Fuegos for $60 each so that made my decision for me. I got these Presidents at half price at a going out of business sale.

663C, 664C, 662S, 663S, 705CB (I like shorter rods, didn't have a choice with the CB though)

Like to know what you think of the 3/4c ounce you use them thinking about maybe getting one of the next for light weightless plastics/topwater.

Once you get to use them

I went to BPS so I could use my gift cards to purchase my 2019 fishing license.  I strolled back through the bargain bins and saw that they had KVD crankbaits, Redeye shad, and SK Bitsy Flip jigs all on sale.  The redeye shads had been pretty well cleaned out, but I managed to find a sexy shad, and a bone colored bait.  From the jig bin, I got three orange/brown, two black, and three black/blue 3/8 jigs.

Just got back from the World Fishing expo at Suffern. Snapped up some goodies. I restrained myself as I just pigged out at BPS(sale), my local B&T(sale), and TW(no sale, but I had to get me some more IMA suspending Lipless cranks. Crazy goodness right there).Anyway, should be set for a while! FLW(famous last words). The stand up heads at the Mega Strike booth were impressive during the demo. No matter how it's thrown, the bait stands up...in a hard bottomed fish tank at least. We'll see how they do in some of the bogs I fish in. I'm just itchin to try 'em.

Bps order came in Friday. Can't wait to try the bomb craw, interesting craw style bait. The Trd craws look pretty good too.

Couldn't help myself. Had to go back to Wacky Worm to pick up a few more things.

Anybody use the GY topwaters? Wondering if they are as good as other "walking the dog" style baits? Paid just over $20 for everything in the photo. The GY topwaters were half off.

On the Academy web site yesterday I saw :

1) P-Line CXX #8 lb 600 yrd. spool reg. $8.99 on clearance for $3.48

2) Berkley Trilene FC  #6lb. 200 yrd. spool reg. $18.99 on clearance for $3.98

* I had to fight for both but finally the customer service rep stepped in for the cashier and found them on the web page I noted ... I will use both for finesse rig leader material .

Picked up an Okeechobee Fats tackle bag from Walmart. Downsized from my old college backpack that I've been using. Shaved off around 10lbs without really sacrificing much. It came with two medium sized trays that I put my hard baits into. I chose the ones that I'm most likely to use and left out ones I haven't touched in years. I cut way down on plastics. I had two trays of plastics in my other bag. Also had a ton of random bagged plastics shoved in there. I chose a mix of plastics that were in their original packs and then one Ziplock bag of random worms and another with random creature baits. I know some will be kinked but big whoop. Roughly 15.5lbs down to around 5.5lbs. Don't feel like I'm really sacrificing anything. Going to a smaller bag just made me pare down to the essentials. Should be enough to beat the bank with.

I did also pick up a couple of Bomber Shallow As to try.

I can't say I've ever seen the GY topwaters before. They look great from the picture! If they act anything like spooks, then I'll end up having plenty in my boat!

I don't have the right app/tool/media to make my Galaxy's pics load.... BUT.... last weekend I found some Yo-Zuri 3DB poppers in Bone and Bluegill for 4.99$ at my local Scheels! That's a great deal for anywhere, but 50% off there.

Now I'm gonna buy a few more Yo-zuri topwater cause of the detail and quality ???

So last weekend I went to Sport Authority and bought a handful of lures and grubs and told myself that was it... no more..  I have all the lures and fishing outfits I need for now.  I need to learn how to fish what I got...!

This evening I got to walking around the store and bought 2 more rattle traps...  In my defense I NEEDED these two...  a red and a blue / chrome.  I didn't have these in my arsenal.  I promise not to buy any more...  you DO believe me.. don't you ?

I love the Okeechobee Fats bags. I have the larger one that comes with 4 trays and I keep about 85% of my stuff in it. I’ve had it for about 5 years now and it has stayed in perfect condition despite being WAY over stuffed. (Like literally with 90 lbs of gear in it.) I feel like I could drag it behind my truck for 100 miles and there wouldn’t be anything left of the gear in it but the bag would be fine.

Let me know when you give it a try, I’ll follow behind and collect anything that might fall out ?

I ordered mine from DSG and it came in a 10 foot long box.  It was smashed and opened when it arrived but the rod was in mint condition.

I plan to use mine for the same.  Also, it surprised me how thick the butt of the rod is.  I too can't wait to use it.

I'd love to but I blew my budget.  I am thinking the Shimano Bantam or something around that price will be my next pick up.  We'll see.

Scoop em' up! I've only had the opportunity to fish them in very, very, cold and shallow water. 6 feet deep tops. In low temps they have a medium slow sink. You can fish them like a suspending jerkbait or like a typical lipless. When fished like a lipless you'll get the tight action you'd expect on the retrieve, but with a much slower drop to the bottom. That's where I've gotten tagged. Just letting it suspend after the rip. You can walk it a little then pause it too. I've also gotten bit fishing it slow like you would a winter jerkbait: Gentle jerks and long pauses. They only weigh 3/8oz but cast like a bullet. No problem bombing them way out there on casting gear. They should be a great option for the shallows when the grass comes in. The hooks are fine as is IMO. Another plus is that it's unlikely the fish in your waters have seen a bait with this profile that behaves as you can get it to. Pssst, don't tell your friends if they fish where you fish. Wait a few years! I've already blabbed to anyone that would listen. So dumb! Learn from my foolishness.
