I got mine for like 70 bucks last year. It's by far my favorite reel (granted I don't ever spend more than 200 on a reel). I'm wishing now I ordered 3 or 4 at that price.

You can still find them on eBay for $80

Don't tell the bait monkey lol, I'm a slight push away from replacing like 3 reels lol. There's nothing wrong with them I just like the CT more.

With the 15% ebay code right right now, I just picked up a CT Type-R for $85. Can’t beat it. I’m going to try them out for my lighter inshore fishing this year. We’ll see how they hold up in the salt.

...they also have the Type-R 100XS (not the CT, the 200 dollar model) in 8.1:1 for 104.95...89.20 with the coupon.

Welp...if I can settle on a new frog rod before 7PT looks like this is gonna happen. Thanks....I think

LOL, Sorry?? The BaitMonkey has done work on me this winter. I just need this weather to start warming up so I can start fishing and not have all this free time looking at gear.

I really like how the CT palms. I was considering the Type HD for the larger capacity but I have a Tranx for my heavier duty stuff. I’ll be using the CT for bucktailing fluke and casting light plastics in shallower water.

I have the HD for one of my swimbait setups (1-4oz treble baits) and it is really nice. It's not really that big I would use it on something like a frog or flipping rod for sure.

Tatula 7'4" and Type R 100XS in my Ebay cart right now...I know I shouldn't but the whole combo whispering in my ear (haaaallllfff oooffffff)

*Edit, I just realized I have a 100 dollar visa card leftover from something laying around. Yup, this is gonna happen. At least I already have line lol.

Spent a little more than I wanted to this week but filled in some missing pieces.

2x Lews Laser MG lefty

Lews speed stick for cranking

Cabelas guidewear goretex pullover

Got it all for under $200 and I should be good for a minute

I just bought 3 110 jackall rerange jerkbaits and 3 in the 130 size. I have high hopes for them

I just bought a 130 and really like how it cast and fishes so far. Haven't caught anything with it yet, but neither did any other jerkbait we threw Tuesday.

It will be awhile before I get a true test of it, but pretty excited to get a Booyah Toadrunner to at least give a test run. One concern, the hooks look a lot like Trokar points, which I'm not a fan of at all. Hopefully I don't end up with a sliced up frog after the first couple fish.

Some Jigs from Seibert Outdoors, I had the same look on my face when I opened the box. This was before I trimmed skirts and weed guards.

@Bluebasser86, I see I am not the only one who had to give the Booyah a try. Just got mine in today with a bunch of terminal tackle I stocked up on. I am also not a fan of trokar hooks so we will see how they fish in practice.

Wife did well this Birthday. Waiting for the Daiwa DX 8’ Heavy Swimbait rod to arrive. Im not embarrassed to say that I got an adrenaline rush when I opened the box today from TW

also, those 2.8 Keitechs are going to be killer for crappies this spring! I’m on edge to hit the water now

Went out to buy some split rings.  I ended up with two Zara Spook Jr's., one Redeye Shad, and a couple packs of replacement treble hooks.  I forgot all about the split rings.

committing to the big baits this year?

I have a box of smaller glide baits and smaller swimbaits that needed the right equipment. That Daiwa DX is out of stock so now I’m contemplating going with the downsized Dobyns Fury 795 rod since the ratings align with my tackle. Hope the Calcutta isn’t overkill for now. It will shine when I tap into the larger swimbaits, but I need to take baby steps. I’ve been a finesse fisherman mostly so this is going against the grain

My gut is telling me to go with the 806, but here’s the million dollar question...... is it too overpowered for the baits in the 2-3oz range?

I have the 795 and it will throw everything in that box. But if you decide to go to bigger stuff like 8" hudds and the like, the 806 will be the better choice. I also think the 400 sized reel will pair better on the 806.

I’m trying to force the 806 to cover those smaller baits all the way to the 8” Hudds. In your opinion, would using that 806 on a 400 series reel be incredibly awkward throwing those 2-3 oz lures?

@MassYak85 disregard that last comment. Going to trade out the Shimano Calcutta 400 for an Okuma Citrix 364 and pull the trigger on the Dobyns 795 I went too big on my first order. My baits are too small

Haha I was thinking your combo seemed a bit much! You'll really like the 795, I love mine. May I suggest a Tatula HD, or even the new 150, over the Okuma? You can get some great deals out there on the HD right now

The 150 looks sweet! I already own an older gen Tatula for my cranking rod and I love it. The Lews Super Duty Wide Spool reel is a top contender too. I’ve narrowed it down now to 3.  Ill decide tomorrow.

Always nice to come home to a TW package after a long Friday. My new Powell endurance 8ft punching stick and Concept with matching accents. I am in love with this one. Rod is so light yet still a beast! Perfect tip, not too stiff. Got rid of my 8ft Champion XPs cuz they were too heavy/clunky.
