I agree it looks radioactive for sure...lmbo! ? 2 Quote

Many times you'll start seeing the line move away and know you have one.   If I dont see the line move I'll give it a jerk and start reeling it in. A lot of times there is a fish on there. They hook themselves.  I will say this...catching that cat sure made me a believer in Power Pro. I have PP 10lb on my setup and that rod tip was bent all the way over (it was even with the reel half the time) during the fight. I was also impressed that the fluorocarbon leader I tied on held up, too. I've never used a leader and I had to watch a video to learn how to tie it to the braid (I used the Alberto knot).  I've read that the PP yellow can fray a lot. Have you had any issues with that? evilcatfish Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 Checked out a newish place off a rural Missouri highway I'd passed several times now. I couldn't believe how much good stuff they had, I'll be back 5 Quote
MichaelCopeland Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 Getting low on sprayed grass sweet beavers. So went to Wally World a little while ago to get some. Well either they were out or don't have em at this one in Pineville so I picked up a few other things. Got some Berkley Havoc 4" Craw Fatties Bobby Lane design watermelon candy color. Was the closest thing I could find in color to the sweet beavers. Grabbed a bag of Zoom Salty Super Flukes in bait fish color and a 3/8oz Booyah pearl white/snow white shad buzzbait. Gonna try them out here in a little bit. 1 1 Quote

Update:  Tried them out this weekend and was honestly not super impressed with the swimbait/chatterbait trailers.  I guess I'm just used to paddle-tail styled baits but these didn't have quite the action I was expecting.  The brush hogs however looked good in the water and have a really unique smell to them.  No fish on them, though, yet.  2 Quote

It was raining but the bridge makes excellent cover. Plus there's a lot of nice size rocks along the bank. First cast I was working the bait in and suddenly it felt like I snagged a rock, then the rock moved. I pulled up to set the hook and the rock headed out to the river. I could feel the weight of the fish, it was definitely a big one, probably would have been my PB, but then my line went slack. When I reeled it in all I had was the hook!  Sucker ate my senko!  Stayed under the bridge while it was raining for another couple hours and in that time I had the chance to catch five more really nice fish, but each time I pulled back to set the hook it came right out of their mouths. One bass even broke the surface, shook his head and the senko went flying. Exciting stuff.  What I'm learning is that senko fishing is really all about patience and watching your line movement. For all five of these fish that I had on this morning I only was able to detect the last one - watched the line till it hit the bottom then it started jerking a little and moving. The other fish I didn't even know I had on until I went to twitch the bait and felt resistance.  I will say this, the senko definitely lives up to it's reputation. This same spot is where I've been fishing the last few days (using cranks, spinners, etc.) and producing nothing, not even strikes.  Would be nice to find out how to hook set these fish. If anyone knows any tips/suggestions I'm all ears. One member talked about feeling weight and setting the hook. I have found this to be true as well, especially true with bigger fish. Do not be afraid to "cross their eyes". I had to learn the hard way as well, or use a very strong side sweep set, and don't give them any slack.  i did change out reels this summer as my backup reel the drag slipped twice on two fish costing me in a tournament. I fish mine on a 6'6" mh fast action and 12lb test hybrid. Good luck, another option through them wack on an exposed hook, your catch rate should jump up. Quote
wet_dream Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 I was waiting all weekend for these to arrive. Proud new owner of a pair of "new-to-me" SV 103s, one in each ratio.  7 Quote

RichF Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Took advantage of the Kistler sale. Â Got a fourth to get 50% off but it's for my dad. Â Also, figured it was time to jump on at least one of the current bait bandwagons... 7 Quote

Super User fishwizzard Posted September 14, 2017 Super User Posted September 14, 2017 I have some of those Decoy HD Hooks as well, but I have yet to use them.  I have a vague plan involving bubba-shoting some larger Z-man lures but haven't gotten to it yet.  I did a destructive test on one with some pliers and they are quite strong for how thin gauge the are.  1 Quote

MichaelCopeland Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Had a nice little walk this morning to the local Holloway Outdoors. It's about a 45 minute or so walk from the house. Was in there for quite a while just looking at all the different stuff they had. I coulda been in there all day...lol. Finally made up my mind on what to get, harder to choose when you have limited extra funds. All I could spend was $20 so I picked up a new Z-Man Project Z 1/2oz chatter bait in breaking bream color, a pack of SK Rage Tail 4" watermelon red flake Structure Bugs and a pack of Missle Baits 4.5" candy grass D Bombs. Can't wait to go try them out here shortly. ? 5 Quote
Super User MassYak85 Posted September 15, 2017 Super User Posted September 15, 2017 Got my Tatula CT in the mail from the Academy sale. I must say without fishing it yet I am impressed. The reel feels solid, has some nice features, and seems to be designed really well. I'll be testing it out tomorrow. I've never used one of their magforce reels so it should be interesting. 3 Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted September 16, 2017 Super User Posted September 16, 2017  Kastking Speed Demons are back in stock. I got one for an insane price since I signed up for the Kastking inner circle.  I have had had it out twice already and I like it so far. Same backlash proof casting like my other Kastking baitcasters. Solid smooth, crazy fast retrieve. I used it for casting into cover so I can get the Bass out of vegetation quickly when I hooked them. 4 Quote

Super User Cgolf Posted September 17, 2017 Super User Posted September 17, 2017 Today at Walmart I was able to pick up an Ugly Stick GX2 medium 6'6" spinning combo fo 20 bucks instead of the normal price of 40. While not a wow purchase, this will replace my original ugly stick with the same specs that has lived in my truck for many summers. So for my river fishing this was a big score. 2 Quote
