Super User Cgolf Posted July 10, 2017 Super User Posted July 10, 2017 Finally took a picture of the Avid X I got from the factory. The only issue I can see with the Avid is a sloppy glue job at the tip, it measures the proper 6'6". So it wasn't a broken tip rod, they have bins for that. The mojo blank looks scuffed like it was maybe a demo rod. Also included a pic of the tag, if you are ever in the area you should check it out. They had some elites as well, but even at half off they were out of my price range.  Fishing with the Avid was really nice, I could distinctly tell when I was hitting a weed or a fish. It was way more sensitive then my Cabela's prodigy rods. 2 Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted July 10, 2017 Super User Posted July 10, 2017 Here is the B stock rod tag, had to do a separate post due to pic size. They also have a decently stocked shop too, especially compared to other shops in the Northwoods. Quote

Attila Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 To increase my product knowledge, I picked up a Bass Pro Shops Johnny Morris Signature Series baitcaster reel which I'm matching with a 7'2" MHR Tatula baitcast rod to use as my heavy spinnerbait/chatterbait/crankbait combo. Going to spool it with 15lbs Seaguar InvizX fluorocarbon. 3 Quote

Attila Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 @A-Jay @12poundbass In the famous words of Bugs Bunny at the time of his tangle with the Krusher, it was time to employ a little strategy when it came to my recent purchasing.  Now to complete the box of 1/2oz squarebills and crankbaits....I think I might even use the same line...lol  Picture below of the combo.  7 Quote

My application involves asphalt & concrete so I can only speculate; but I wouldn't image very well. This unit is removed during travel (cotter pin) and stored in the "truck box" along with the original wheel. So we're still ready for whatever. A-Jay 2 Quote

I will add that the difference between moving the boat loaded trailer with the 'skate' as compared to the stock 'wheel' is considerable and pretty much stupid easy. Actually made me laugh out loud the first time I tried it.   A-Jay 2 Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted July 14, 2017 Super User Posted July 14, 2017 The only issue with them, other than cost, is that they get gummed up more easily than a single large caster.  Depending on the sawdust/dirt/grit level in your garage, it might never be an issue, but if after some time they get harder to move, take a look at the rotation points and give them a clean and relube.   And yea, the first time I worked at a place with enough budget to afford them it was like magic moving huge set pieces around with just a gentle push.  2 Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted July 16, 2017 Super User Posted July 16, 2017 At a gander closing sale got 3 1/4 ounce RESs and a pack of rage bugs for 18 and change out the door, not too bad of a deal.  will be interesting to see how the rage bug compares to the gambler ugly otter which has been a go to bait for me, and is a buck cheaper than the rage bug. The menace won me over, but it is a different bait and really just fit in to the baits I toss. The Rage bug will need to be pretty incredible to knock the otter out of the rotation. Quote

Weird, but it worked great that way. Weightless T-Rigged. 1 Quote
